Downright rude comment to make to someone who obviously knows the player personally.

Still it wouldn't be ferrarilover if you didn't attempt to shock by making a p*ss-weak attempt at a witticism.

Thanks Jonnyfive, I thought so too, so let's hope it was Matt's idea of humour.

The Country & Western duo known as Richard Edwards and Bruce Stuckey pursued their "hobby" after their playing days.

Thank you Tai for your vital goals in the season just ended and best wishes for your future career. :-D
)Please elaborate! Do you have a reliable source? By the way, he may play for Kenya, but he was brought up solely by the English side of his family so is more British than Kenyan!

Playing for Torquay was NOT just a hobby. Tai took his fitness regime really seriously - lots of additional exercise besides the training, strict diet regime and no alcohol. How many other team members themselves so seriously I wonder. His play may not have been good enough but please don't put it down to laziness or lack of interest!

If Yeoman and Jarvis are what we have to look forward to god help us.
I'm interested to see how Jarvis is used next season. Will he become Howe's back-up, like Tai has been, or go up 4-4-2.
It may surprise fans that Tai's goal tally in comparison to minutes on the pitch, compares favourably to Howe's!

Don't worry. I like Tai and think a bit of positive man-management along with some confidence and he could be a good player for us. He's shown me enough in pieces that he has the ability, with a good partner in a 4-4-2 he will score goals.[/quote]

Thanks Dave - I have noted your supportive comments along the way. Incidentally I love your sense of humour at times too.
I think you have totally hit the nail on the hesd with your comments on man management and confidence. Tai needs to be playing 90 min per week for the match fitness and confidence that brings.

Well it's been a really enjoyable season as a Torquay fan and I find it fascinating to see how Tai brings out such mixed opinions. He has certainly been frustratingly inconsistent but it is those who dismiss him as totally useless who annoy me a tad!

Let's see what next week's talks bring! I may well be moving to yet another site!

Thought this would being out an OTT response from you, Matt. Jusv waiting for something similar from Austrian Andy who seems to have gone to ground.

Tai scored!

Funny how quick fans are to criticise him and how slow they are to acknowledge any success,

royalgull wrote:Unfortunately this decision to not add to our squad whoever it was by has completely backfired and this season which could have been so unbelievably great has now fizzled out into just being a well done that was excellent season but nothing ultimately achieved. Make no mistake this tie is absolutely 100% over as without Howe there is no chance of us scoring twice.

Onto today well I'm still annoyed at our 2nd half display. 1st half was ok, we created a couple of good chances of which Jarvis and Howe should have both done better but as ever we fail to make those chances count. Eunan was pulling the strings, Cheltenham never looked like hurting us and we're 1-0 down.

The 2nd half was just awful, Cheltenham were light years better than us, should have scored about 5 goals if it wasn't for a couple of last ditch blocks and clearances, what summed us up was their centre forward makes it 2-0 with a header. We go straight up the other end and hit the bar with a 10x easier one.

We just never score any goals as our forward players other than Howe are substandard at best and not good enough at worst. I can never fault our effort or endeavour but sadly in Cheltenham I saw everything we don't have. They look like a L2 promotion side, power and strength at the back, tidy central midfielders, rapid wingers and a massive depth in strikers. 4 to be precise. If things didn't go Cheltenham's way today they could look to their bench and bring on Duffy, Goulding, Smikle, we're losing and we bring on a left back to play out wide. A complete lack of depth in the forwards and plan B has ultimately killed us this season. You will nearly always see the teams with the best strikers go up and if I was a Cheltenham fan I'd feel very confident right now that they could win the whole thing.

What a waste.

Scored twice against Hereford without Howe so can do it again - if they play 4-4-2. Suits Tai far better than being alone up front. If fans were still watching when LRT came on today, they will have seen Tai's play improve considerably with two shots on target within a short time.
He links up well with Jarvis if they are given the opportunity.

dannyrvtufc4life wrote:I forgot to say in my previous post, I was so annoyed with Tai when he came on. He had so much energy and hardly ever moved, put no effort in whatsoever closing down and chasing balls. Very, very disappointing!

Three fans made similar comments, so I thought a probable explanation is called for. Tai has suffered with a very painful back the past two weeks. Fans at Wimbledon can't have failed to see the extensive physio session Damian was giving him on the pitch during warm-up time. Some may even have noticed the enormous white pill he was given at the end of the therapy. What they won't have seen was Tai after the game looking and feeling totally spaced out!

Tai wants to get Torquay promoted as much as any other player or fan. He woudn't deliberately jeopardise his club's chances, so please accept that, frustrating as his apparent lack of effort is to us all, he was either suffering extreme pain or, I suspect, was a spaced out on painkillers.

Thanks for your detailed response Andy. The choice of kittiwake stems from my love of Cornwall by the way.
On the subject of Tai scoring, I can't really join your argument because I don't understand the game well enough! However, it is interesting to note that when Tai left Luton Town in January last year he was top scorer for the number of minutes spent on the pitch. There are goals in there so it's frustrating they're not coming for Torquay. However, he's happiest when he's a regular starter and playing 90 minute games, so let's hope the confidence keeps building.

It is indeed, Southampton Gull!

Being a Tai supporter primarily (and a Torquay fan as a result) I have watched with interest the many, mainly critical, posts over the past few months. Fair enough he was off-form over the autumn but I did try to tell you there was more to come! Amusing to see AA Gull slowly coming round from comparing Tai''s play to various forms of excrement to admitting he has something to offer! No offence Andy - I do admire your honesty and enjoy your spirited posts!

For the record he does prefer playing with another striker up front.
