Player Search - Who Will Turn Up?
I thought part of the reason O'Sullivan didn't feature was due to five loan players in a squad limit when we had seven at the club at any given time.CP Gull wrote: ↑13 Jun 2018, 12:06 I see the Herald Express are linking us with a possible move for free agent and former loanee Tommy O’Sullivan.
Quite surprised by this, as I thought he was one of our least effective loan signings last season and hardly seemed to feature much under Owers either! He only made five starts + two substitute appearances ... out of a possible 19 when he was here, and I don’t recall injuries playing any part in his non selection?
Some ability on the ball perhaps, but very lightweight!
Perhaps a sign that desperation is setting in?
He always had an eye for a pass, and if you could bulk him up a bit he might become a genuine Football League quality player.

In Kevin Nicholson's four games in charge we picked up one point (Tranmere H 0-0, Aldershot A 2-3, Gateshead A 0-3 & Boreham Wood H 2-4); in the reverse fixtures under Gary Owers we picked up two points - Aldershot H 0-0, Gateshead H 1-1.
In Robbie Herrera's six-match caretaker spell we picked up two points (Guiseley A 2-3, Solihull Moors H 1-2, Woking A 1-4, Chester FC 1-1, Wrexham 0-0 and Bromley A 1-3) - in the reverse fixtures under Owers we picked up seven points - Chester FC A 2-0, Woking H 2-1, Solihull Moors A 1-1.

Rowland would be an interesting choice, and a potential good fit for this club in the future.
He's played for Bournemouth, so geography possibly wouldn't be a major issue for him, and he would be following in the footsteps of Frank O'Farrell, Malcolm Musgrove, Stuart Morgan and Leroy Rosenior in having also played for West Ham.

Here's an interesting interview with someone with experience of reporting on a football club with divisive owners.

Gus off to Hull
Apparently the Gus deal could see a striker move in the opposite direction.

Chester & Hartlepool
Ten point deductions for both teams would leave Hartlepool in the relegation zone - thus reducing the gap from safety marginally to nine points.
Liquidation would see both sets of club's results expunged from the league records, meaning the point we earned against Chester back in September will be removed.

If you compare our directorship situation with that of Argyle, Tony Wrathall has rejoined the Argyle board and Simon Hallett has since joined and both have put money into Argyle and own shares in them. CO has never made it completely clear whether that would be the situation at Plainmoor, or whether it would be him ultimately calling the shots.
If it is the latter then nobody in their right mind would want to that.

Cox achieved ten points from ten games despite Luke Young being injured during that time, which wasn't bad going.

Torquay United Association Football Club - Sole Director Clarke Osborne
Good point, I've long thought that a lack of civic pride in Torbay and South Devon being symptomatic of the apathy that exists towards the club.desperado wrote: ↑16 Jan 2018, 11:16 Think Teigngull has a point with the local population, an awful lot have moved to the area compared to
other parts of the country and Torquay is simply not their team, I know some do come here and follow
and support the team but there is a lot of apathy and mickey taking towards us. No offence to anyone but you rarely hear a local accent in South Devon
its usually Midlands , South East,, Scottish, Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire etc
You go to the north east and everyone talks with a Geordie accent

Next season in the Conf south
I was actually thinking the other day, perhaps, with hindsight, it would have been a better idea to make Lee Hodges manager when Chris Hargreaves was placed on gardening leave and appoint Aaron Downes as player-coach. But we all know who dreamt the whole thing up though don't we!desperado wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 20:03 So how do Truro do it then? Even more remote than us, 5th in the league 6 pts off the lead with a game in hand
with a team containing many of our rejects , Ben Gerring, Ed Palmer, Niall Thompson, Billy Palfrey, Jamie
Richards.... Lee Hodges must be a hell of a manager, get him in here !
Lets not get too depressed about next season yet , this one is enough to be going on with.... and its blue monday
or whatever the hell its called, we'll all be phoning the Samaritans soon

Management options
Parallels could also be found with Paul Cox leaving Eastwood Town to manage Mansfield Town too.merse btpir wrote: ↑21 Aug 2017, 23:17 Risky in what way; surely not as risky as gifting the job to favoured old players with no managerial experience whatsoever.....
Wilkinson has managed three clubs ~ Henley, Milton United; and for the past seven years, Hungerford Town ~ coached in the Reading Academy and brought little Hungerford up three levels to the glass ceiling they currently exist under due to ground restrictions.
I would say that more than blows the CVs of the likes of Chris Hargreaves and Kevin Nicholson out of the water!
