Re: Today's Daily Mail (Nov1st)
Apologies and I'm going to blame it on my age and being in a hurry but when I said "I didn't realise" I really should have phrased it "I can't understand how" What surprises me is that the BBC would use a top of the table Division 3 clash as one of their matches rather than a Division one game. But having said that ( I'm now going around in circles again it's definitely my age) the Beeb did have a tendency in those days to show lower league matches. It must have been in their contract.
Frank says that John Bond (the father of Spurs coach Kevin Bond - who was in charge of Tottenham last night in their Europa League game in Russia due top Harry's absence)was dropped for the Bury game because he'd not travelled down the night before the match from his London home. I always rated John Bond as a manager, despite an unsuccessful spell in charge of Man City.
BTW I didn't realise what a big part the church played in Frank's life.

Re: Today's Daily Mail (Nov1st)
Just finished the book while on holiday. Some great tales from his Torquay days.
I didn't realise we'd been on Match of the Day in the 1960's.
It sounds as if we really should have got promoted into what was then the Second Division now the Championship. I wonder where as a club we'd be now if we'd gone up then??

Re: Frank O'Farrell (Today's non league paper)
My son works in Altrincham and he's just sent me this down from The Manchester Evening News... It's about Frank's time at Old Trafford.

Re: Frank O'Farrell (Today's non league paper)
Interesting piece in today's Daily Mail
To be Frank with United
Former Manchester United manager Frank O'Farrell was set to bring out his autobiography A Nice Day for an Execution, based on his turbulent 18 months in the Old Trafford hot seat, in the late Seventies.
But the threat of legal action by United, especially over criticisms of his predecessor Sir Matt Busby, saw the book mothballed.
Now, 40 years on from his brief time in charge of United, the 83-year-old will finally see publication of the Frank O'Farrell Story, now subtitled All Change at Old Trafford.
It charts his strained relationship with Sir Matt and dealings with the holy trinity of Best, Law and Charlton. Don't count on it being sold at Old Trafford.

Frank O'Farrell (Today's non league paper)
Just read today's Non League Paper( It's an old habit from our Conference days) any way there's a good article about
our former manager Frank O'Farrell. It says how in six years he went from managing Weymouth in the Southern League to taking over at Old Trafford after spells with us and Leicester.
Got me thinking in the grand scheme of things how good was he as a boss.
Was he our most successful manager or would Buckle take that honour ?
