Jude-Boyd - Thought he had a really good game, drove forward well and could be a real asset if the loan doesn’t get ended
Nelson - Thought he looked composed on the ball, but did the no nonsense stuff when necessary. Another that will be an asset
Jarvis - Quality was there for all to see, I’d be surprised if there’s no bids for him to take advantage of our situation but nobody can deny he’s clearly above this level
Ash - Pressing was immense, he’s not going to score 20 goals a season for us but his pressing creates chances for others and thought he ran the channels well
Jenkins - Davies - Not everything came off for him, but he didn’t stop running, made some fantastic challenges and had some quality moments going past players. Real quality
Special mention as well to Dawson who I thought made a real difference to the midfield

Chesterfield v Torquay United 25/09/21
Thought we defended really well first half, second half MacDonald had a bit of a mare. For me, Addai changed the game when he came on and we looked a threat when he got on the ball and ran at them, he could be a really good signing once he’s up to speed and fitness.
Still a few short as others have said, not sure Wright, Lolos or Holman are the answer up top, there’s just not enough threat or pace.
What a great end to the game though and it could be a real turning point if we use this energy to push on!

Torquay United v Truro City 19.45 PSF Tues 27 July.
Just back from the game, took my 6yr old daughter for her first ever live game and she loved it!
Thought we played well, bit sloppy at times but with quite a few new faces it’s to be expected.
Stand outs for me were Marcin in goal, Ali Omar who is definitely no nonsense, talking and motivating the rest of the team. Thought Dan Martin was good when he moved to full back and Slough didn’t look at all out of place when he came on for the second half.
Think it was quite clear Olaf isn’t a right winger, he’s definitely bulked up and looks physically ready, think it would be great for him to get a chance up front to show if he’s capable. Also disappointing for Lapslie to go off injured, hope it’s not too serious as I think he will be vital this season.
Any news on Hall? Conor and Jake back tonight but no Asa.

Definitely a frustrating game. Absolutely battered them for the first half hour or so, but as soon as the first goal went in heads dropped and we looked like a completely different team. Came out in the second half and started the same as the first and I really thought we’d nick a goal, but just wouldn’t happen. I think if we’d got one, we’d have got three or four by the end.
Surprised by some saying that Niate had a good game, I thought he was poor and the weak link at the back. Says it all that McDonald wouldn’t go short to him all game but as soon as Lewis came on he was more than willing.
Think Reidy was unlucky tonight and if he keeps getting in the positions he was tonight it’ll come, but agree with others that he isn’t a lone striker and CLE is better slightly deeper. Think Johnson has to choose between him or Little for the midfield. Was surprised when Hall was taken off tonight.
All in all, I do think we will be fine this season but we’ve just got to take those chances when we are putting the pressure on. Special mention to Vincent as well, who considering is not a full back, looked good last night. Might have dived in a couple of times or been a bit out of position but recovered well and did his best.

Bit of credit due to Koszela who after coming on seemed to be the only one who didn’t panic when he got the ball to his feet and tried to get the ball down and play. Think he would have made a difference if he’d started today.

Just back from the game, Reid excellent up front, worked really hard and deserved his two goals which he took well. Andrews and Evans controlled the midfield and Cameron was great at the back.
Felt that Wynter had a poor game, Niate grew into the game but for someone of his stature he loses so many headers by not timing his jumps. Kalvin was good on the left when he was given the ball but if he had to work for it or gamble I didn’t think he looked interested.
Overall a good win and well controlled game, could have been more and with Edwards, Hall, Dickson etc not available we’ll have a strong side when they’re all back.

NEW MANAGER GARY JOHNSON
From what GJ has said he’s met Clarke osbourne already so at least somebody’s seen him this season! Fair play to him though, a great appointment and hopefully he can get a few new players in and get the team going.

Fantastic appointment and would be very surprised if we aren’t challenging at the top end with GJ in charge. Exactly what we needed and I think this will bring the fans back in through the gates.

blimey. It's fine to give praise when due and it is also fine to give criticism when due (everybody has an opinion, what the forum is about which is completely fine) but there is a difference to critisicing a decision etc and picking at anything you can. I note that you didn't answer the question of whether you would have made the post had we held on? Would it have been an issue that Healey didn't come on earlier if we had won the game? I'd suggest it wouldn't have been.Yorkieandy wrote: ↑17 Mar 2018, 19:22 Why don't you read the Romain thread where i was the first to give praise for how he'd started. Why don't you read through the Owers thread where i have posted GIVING him praise when it has been due which has not been often but it has happened. Why don't you read through properly. I give praise when i believe it's due no matter how much i dislike a player / manager or whatever (see Billy Bodin thread) so i suggest you read through threads properly and don't pick out the bits that tries to validate your criticism .

Agree Rjc and think all three should be in the starting eleven next game. Think we are already past it now but we really are in last chance saloon and we have to do everything we can. However, I do think that the correct decision was made to keep the Williams and Romain partnership for the start today and if we'd held out and got the win then it would have been the right thing to do.

If we'd held on for the last 8/9 minutes and got the win would you have been complaining or making this post? By all accounts Williams and Romain have been playing well together and while we were winning would you have made the change? At the end of the day we've got the opportunity to bring in what seems to be a decent player and have taken the chance while it was there, but it doesn't mean we need to throw him straight in and make an unnecessary change.Yorkieandy wrote: ↑17 Mar 2018, 17:34 He'll not fire us to safety getting about 8 minutes play will he?
I very rarely post but read the forums every day and it seems that any opportunity you get to critise you'll take within moments? I'm not a fan of Owers in the slightest and don't think he's the right person to be in charge but give the bloke a break.
