Torquay V Chester - Now Tue 5th April
Agree with all the positive comments about the performance-my one gripe would be us not taking advantage of the "dodgy keeper",he spilled the ball at least three times, twice on the ground and once in the air. After the first time we should have been alert to his weakness and had players following in from shots outside the box;had we done so the match could have been safe long before the last minute.

The club organised a football special train for this one and I watched the match with my friend and his Dad from high up in the stands.
I recall the Cave goal as a rocket from outside the area, which Dunne didn't move for.We got pelted with coins from the Holte End at the end of the match and the train didn't leave to later in the evening,so we went into a restaurant somewhere near the station and left it to the last minute to walk there as it was pretty lively in the BullRing area.

Takeover of the club at an advanced stage
The accounts for the club to 31st May are now available on-line. Over £3million is now owned to the holding Company,Plainmoor Ltd.
Does anyone know who Plainmoor Ltd actually is? Very worrying times as the takeover talks reach an advanced stage-will the new owners be providing loans to the club,or new share capital investment? If its the former we are up shit street.

Yes ,good choice. As each goal went in the volume of the crowd increased and once we equalised you just knew we would get the winner-Chris Barnard was on loan at the time,I think.

Well Mike Bateson also had the "best interests of the club at heart"-didn't stop him selling to Chris Roberts did it?Gullscorer wrote:Why would any takeover need to be challenged? The current owners have the best interests of the club at heart. They have kept the club alive. They should be trusted to inform the fans of the situation at an appropriate stage.
If the TUST truly regards itself as a supporters trust, then it should support the board. Instead, it seems to regard itself as already part-owners of the club and peeved at not being included as part of the board's activities. Sorry but that's how TUST comes across to the fans. And that could be quite off-putting to any potential buyer. For TUST to consider itself as potential owners of the club is just a pipe dream, and will be for a long time to come.
The best thing TUST can do now is to stay silent and say nothing, focus on increasing membership and raising funds, and aim to be more like a proper supporters club.

Torquay United v FC Halifax
First half performance was okay overall and if we had managed to nick one(Wright had a couple of good chances) we might have gone on to win comfortably.Defensively we looked very solid, with the midfield shielding the defence well.In the second half the tempo dropped and I thought we made the double substitution too early-I would have kept Harrad on until the last ten minutes.Verma was isolated upfront with Ajala and Allen playing too far away from him.We didn't look scoring until the Richards chance at the end and it took a great save from Moore to stop Halifax from nicking it. We definitely need to win on Saturday and get the momentum going again.

Agree Wivel-formidable side. Most would be in my all time best 11 too.wivelgull wrote:What a team! The names roll off the tongue with joy....Reg Wyatt, now there was THE BIG BOOT in all his glory. You needed a BIG BOOT (we haven't had one since John Uzzell) so that glorious masters like Robin, Big Fry and Ronnie Barnes could show us what no players have done since (with the possible exception of Rodney Jack)....and John Smith! What a superb midfielder: tough, intelligent, creative, brilliant in every way. With Lors in for, possibly, Doug Clarke you'd have the almost perfect United side ever.

It was just a bit of light-heated banter about him constantly being outside the technical area-he turned to the crowd and smiled everytime we shouted at him to get back!goodluckgull wrote:Bliss was holding the back of his thigh when he walked off, so it looked like a hamstring injury. Dan didn't take all his goal kicks.
Danny Racchi had a very good game.
The Braintree Manager was getting quite irate. It looked like the fans on the Bristow Bench were getting fed up with his antics
