Re: Goals you'll always remember.

simona wrote:I always remember a Paul Gibbs goal in the nearly season of 97-98. A very late equaliser in a 1-1 home draw with Leyton Orient? Evening game. Hit from 25 or 30 or 35 yards - it gets longer as time passes. Still rising when it hit the back of the net. Probably would still be rising now if it hadn't.

Of course, it could have been a shinned 6 yarder; memory is a strange thing, but I don't think so. I've never seen any TV pics so only have my "real time" memory to go on. Would love to know if anyone else remembers it? Corroboration would help my sanity.

We sponsored the game that night so I was in the family stand and therefore right behind it. Gibbo smashed it and it went like a rocket. Was at least 30 yards .

Yes he did. Blasted it in from just outside the box. Another one of his great finishes.

Re: Goals you'll always remember.

Can also remember Mick O belting one in the top corner at Shrewsbury on the first day of the season.

Also a Mick O free kick that crashed against the bar at Home Park in the last minute. It was 2-2 and it
was in the middle of a tremendous hail storm when the away end at Gnome Park was still uncovered.

Re: Goals you'll always remember.

QPR... Now that was one of the best ever away atmospheres.
O'Neill Donaldson then completely miskicked in front of goal in stoppage time to win it !

Can also remember Williams scoring a last minute goal at St James Park and a cracker at home
against Macclesfield in the last minute.

Another occasion I can remember was not a goal but Charlie Oatway standing toe to toe with
Leo Fortune West right in front of the POP with the crowd roaring him on . Fortune west was
about a foot taller than him but Charlie refused to back down.

All great memories.

Re: Goals you'll always remember.

Eifion was a player I enjoyed watching also. Can remember his debut hat-trick against Hartlepool. Peter Beardsley was playing for them that day.

Cant believe I forgot this one .........

Jean - Pierre Simb scoring at home ( not sure against who ) but celebrating by running the down by the " pop " high fiving supporters.

Re: Goals you'll always remember.

Sills Wembley Goal.
A sills penalty against Northwich victoria (Home ) in the Last Minute to halt our poor start to the season.
Andy Gurney Goal against Exeter at Home.
Sako at Bristol Rovers...... I also remember the yellow army going nuts.
Phil Lloyd blasting in from 25 yards against Swansea in the Sherpa Van Trophy. ( Remembered as he hardly ever scored ).
Don O'riodan tapping in from 1 yard to win at St James Park on a Boxing Day.
Steve McCalls goal v Scarborough ( Pure Class )
Gary Nelson scoring in the last minute at home to Brighton on a New Years Day. It was the coldest day I can ever remember at Plainmoor

And two Eiffion Williams stoppage time goals to beat Blackpool 3-2 after a streaker had interrupted play and increased the stoppage time.

Re: will 84 points really be enough??

I think it may take 87 points. But there will be a few surprises on the way no doubt. I feel 84 points is too short. 87 would allow us one slip up. Our goal difference is inferior which is as good as a point at this stage of the season. Im confident we can get the points . COYY !

Re: 80 Points enough?

Another fantastic win last night . The lads showing real belief and characther. I feel that 82-83 points will be the minimum this year so feel that five wins
and a draw could potentially do the trick.

Obviously its far too early to count our chickens but wouldnt it be ironic if we needed to get something from the Crewe
game at home to get automatically promoted. Would remind me of a day that will never ever be forgotten :scarf:

Re: League 2: Torquay United vs Plymouth Argyle

Here it is the day I have been waiting for since the fixtures came out. Hopefully give us the opportunity to erase the 0-4 at home. The 4-3 away
and the sight of Paul Gibbs over the top celebration when scoring for argyle from the spot at plainmoor.

Lets not give them any any hope and jump on them straight from the start ! As DTG suggests I have become less confident myself as week goes
by but that wont stop me singmy heart out this afternoon like all fans who will be there need too.

Okane is the key ! If he can conduct the orchestra then we should win .....

COYY !!!!!!

They may be in our end but lets hope they are leaving with 10 mins to go when they are 3 down ! :)

A real disappointment that we cant fill our ends and even worse it looks like they will be invading our pubs including the Union :@

Hate that , can still remember pockets of them celebrating all around the ground when a certain Mr Gibbs scored a Penalty against us many years ago.

Re: Argyle tickets..

Shame that we cannot sell our allocation for this game bearing in mind its our only home game of the month. No doubt this will lead to a large amount of Plynouth fans in the " Pop " that day.
