Jake gave every impression that he was happy here with us, even saying on Radio Devon in May that it was 'absolutely possible' that he would sign for us. I have been very impressed with Howe, and agree with others that Robinson could be an exciting addition to our front line, exactly the quality that we need.
As stated above, Robinson has the support of Captain Manse. Nico on twitter said we should defo sign him up ("give him the ball and he shoots every time") - so he would potentially slot right back into a team with senior players who know and respect him and want to play with him.
So maybe, depending on Jake's current feelings about moving back here and assuming Ling is made aware of what he has brought to us in the past (would Atieno have got us into the play-offs?) it would come down to time and money.
Time-wise, there was a 90 day issue, I think, with loanee Craig Stanley which sent him back to Morecambe before our season ended. I don't know enough about these things, but if we wanted Robinson here on loan, how long could that actually be for? If we decide that we do want him I fear that we will lose out unless we act QUICKLY!
Atieno has been a big disappointment for me and I feel it's time for him to make way for someone else. Of course, as soon as Eunan hits the big time we'll be rich enough to buy all 10 Northampton players being shown the exit.
Come back Jakey!

Re: Jake Robinson
Good to see jakey is still selling the Herald and has the entire back page to himself today. Less good to be a Torquay United fan who was clinging to a glimmer of hope that the sound business part of the loan deals for Robinson and Stanley might be the seduction of a permanent contract.
Or wanted to read something, anything about OUR future...
Personally I did not take anything positive, nor was surprised to see from the report that Jake is being courted by anyone and everyone but us in L1 and L2, so why was it OUR local news????? I still can't believe we were lucky enough to have him at Plainmoor, and now is as good a time as any to say thank you for your contribution, am sad that our managerless Club is unlikely to have the finances to keep you here, hope they have the decency to say so, and I wish you all the best.

I saw her at Histon in what I think was our first season in the Conference, if not our first game. Where are they now???!Bloggy wrote:The extra occasional Saturday kick-off at 5.45pm would be nice!

Re: Mark Ellis
Amen to that. The single most shocking post-match comment that remains with me to this day after THAT play-off semi-final is that Buckle said that he didn't look at the clock and he didn't know how much time was left. I DID !!!!!! It does worry me that he could be the one that struggles with our big games (eg bizarre substitution against Crawley), so let's hope he doesn't let us down this time - I'm sure the players won't! Surely Bucks will have learned the lesson from that game that should not be mentioned?

Re: My experience buying a ticket for saturday
I tried to buy a few things in the shop a while back but their card machine was broken and I ended up only able to buy the things I had enough cash on me for. The whole palaver took for ever.
Perhaps it would speed things up a bit if they had some cash-only queues for the Shrewsbury tickets with a stash of coins for the change. Sounds obvious, but ....
Let's hope our football is better than our admin on Saturday COYY

Cheers for that, tufcbrett. It makes good sense to focus on football rather than contracts until the season is over, but hadn't seen it confirmed anywhere. Agree about Thomson, very disappointing attitude.

Yes, so do I !!! Perhaps they're not going to sort new contracts until after the play offs though - can't remember what's happened in previous years when our season has been extended.PlainmoorRoar wrote:Wish the .com would do a list like exeters site have done though!

Re: Appeal?
Time for closure on this one now, I feel. From what SG says above, the process sounds fairer than I had thought: the FL will have informed the Club that we have been docked one point as a result of repeated administrative incompetence. We still have time to put this behind us, beat Chesterfield and Rotherham and go up. What a season this has been and still is!! COYY, let's do it!!!

Re: League 2: Torquay United vs Wycombe Wanderers
Massive game today, obviously, and the sun seems to be shining on us - sort of. It hasn't come out yet so if we lose the toss again we could still end up playing the right way. I'm hoping for an attacking formation, solid defence, good teamwork, an invisible referee and the result we deserve. COYY!!!!!

Re: Predictor
Just had another go, and am pleased to report a big improvement on my prediction of 8th last time. We were in the automatics going into the last game, where even a loss against Rotherham still left us in 5th (meeting Port Vale in the play offs). We CAN do this!!!!!
