Re: Ex-Gull Star Becomes A Manager
I wish Matty the best at Stafford; remember going there in the Conference days and Ive never witnessed such vitriol directed at their team, manager and the officials when we beat them..................the very best Matty

Re: Zebroski
I am amazed by some peoples attitude on here; we all know what that area is like at night time ; a virtual no police go area and its inevitable that most nights someone will suffer being there. The fact that the 'victim' was having a go at Guy and Chris stepped in and all he got was a bit of a thumping is hardly amazing; weve all seen what the police have to do to some idiots to restrain them at all.
Chris has pleaded guilty and been given a suitable punishment. Pleading guilty was the right thing to do in that he did hit and hurt the lunatic. At that point the story ends; why some poeple should now wish retribution from TUFC amazes me. Chris trains well and behaves like a model professional. He is outstanding on the football field under intense pressure and often goaded by opposition and 'fans' alike.
This should be accepted and let the guy move on ..........................

Re: Charnock moves on....
Charnock is a good quality league 2 player and i suppose, given our decreased budget, PB has agreed to move him on in that we have 3 decent centre halves (tho I dislike Ellis and Robertson as a central pairing). I cant imagine anyone wants him to go but he is better than the occasional reserve game. Needs must and I assume some of the wage savings may have tempted Elliot to stay and maybe gave the cash to keep the Wolves guy here too; it all costs money.

Re: Why do you support Torquay?
I was bought up in Brixham in the 50/60s and Dad took me and my brother to Torquay in the early 60s well before the World Cup of 66 which got a few of my mates interested. I was totally taken by the sheer energy of the place - amazing evening games, the smoke, the noise, the skill and physicality of Mr Stubbs, the late John Benson and fabulous guys like John Bond,Ronnie Barnes, Tony Scott John Dunn Jimmy Dunne - could go on for ever. It felt really good to be there unlike may other grounds where I worried for my safety and sanity!
When I was a student I worked the footy specials for Devon General - I was paid and sneaked in for free! Moving to Dorset then Hertfordshire made home games difficult but the conference years were good for viewing away matches and this really got me back into being part of the yellow army again.
My Dad still comes with me when I'm in Devon; at 91 he must be one of the older supporters.
High points; Seeing Robin play at his peak; seeing Jim Fryatt make his home debut and also watching us win at Histon in the first conference season...................Low point ................being 230 miles away when TUFC was taken apart in that league relegation year.
Like others I love that dip on the M5 with the DEVON sign and have a great feeling that I am home again and amazingly the car goes even faster than ever down the hill till I remember to put the cruise control on again. Mind on the return journey the Hertfordshire sign on the M25 just brings a sigh of relief!

Re: 4-4-2
I made Macclesfield but not Aldershot so I cant comment on that game. Against Macclesfield we tried to pass it around like a Italian led premiership club but we dont have the class to do that so too often Maclefield went wow thanks for the ball mate I knew you were going to do that (if it wasnt hit directly at them) . A distinct lack of our central midfield pace or challenge meant the ball went easily across/through the centrecircle then all the pressure was on the back 3 or 4 depending where our right back for the day was. No challenge means anyone with a bit of oomph can hit an unstoppable shot passed most goalkeepers, even our great one, and we go one/two /three down.
Add to that Danny not taking on his fullback; I presume he was told not to go on the outside but pass it back to our leftback who then goes on to put in a high cross from further back ............not much point ; at least Danny could and has cut out 1/2 defenders in the past; so we end up too narrow and relying on Elliot to do....well I dont know what . Our only chance of goals is Chris and he will score a few this year; but scoring one when u concede 2 or 3 from that space 20 25 yards out for the hotshots to increase their tally will see us really really suffer.
4 4 2 will only work for us if the midfield really do do box to box stuff, maybe a revitalised Wroe may enhance this tomorrow.

Dad and I have been coming to Plainmoor since mid 60s but very recently he finds the steps very difficult to contend with. He is quite happy on his mobility scooter and hopefully Ill be down on Saturday to watch with him. How accessible is Plainmoor on his scooter and would I have to inform anyone beforehand?

Re: Southend - Torquay
I think we have all seen the quality we can produce to not let a oneoff at Southend really worry us too much. Gone are the days when we got a few results by a bit of luck or rank bad play by the opposition; our team can really play good stuff and even the nonfootball interested in my family have been impressed by the performance against Reading and against Bournemouth. A fantastic start to the season and barring any injuries with our tiny squad we will give a few real of the big boysin the lower leagues a good kicking.........................yellowsssssssssssssssssssssss
