Re: Gills looking for new Manager
Will be interested to see who they go for. I just hope they stay away from Lingy and Taylor.

Re: Just to clear up the 'form' issue..
Right but seriously its not as big an issue as you seem to think anymore. Take it from someone that has played rugby for 9 years now. Firstly union and now league.
I would say the far greater variable is the quality of refereeing. Which affects FAR more situations than the bounce of a ball. For which rugby has the upper hand by a mile. So much so that when a ref makes mistakes in rugby its a surprise in football its part of the course. Dont get me started on the difference in game and man management

Re: Just to clear up the 'form' issue..
Not being funny but your bounce of a ball reasoning for rugby is complete rubbish. It happens very rarely now, the skills of even amateur stand-offs means that the control is great. I would suggest that the quality of referees in rugby is alot higher and get more discussions correct. I would say thats a much greater variable and could have a bigger impact on results.Northumbergull wrote:I've been saying for years that, apart from it being a marathon not a sprint, a lot depends on two things, as far as the fixture list goes:
1. At any point in the season, you might play a team in form and on a run. Even the crappest teams put a run together sometime. If you happen to play them then, you're screwed!
2. The run-in IS important, especially at this level with, as others have mentioned, the size of squads re injuries/suspensions et al. Unlike in the higher leagues, if you have a hard run-in, you're gonna struggle, relatively speaking.
But, we get second chances these days, what with the play-offs 'n' all. I used to hate them, as an old fogey. But, after all these years, I think they're a good thing for many reasons.
At least we're not talking rugby, a game I gave up on years ago, where, even if you have dominated a game, you can lose out to the wibble-wobble of the so-called 'ball'! Imagine how bad you'd feel if you were one kick away from going up, only for the ball to bounce wildly off to one side!
Cheers
Bruce
One thing thats ridiculous about rugby in this country is that you could win the league by a distance win only a minor shield then have to be in a play-off for the main title. Which you could of course lose. One example of this is a couple of years ago gloucester won league by 20ish points then lost to wasps in the final.

Re: Cardiff City to rebrand themselves?
Austrian if ever you feel the need to blog bout your home lands teams please do. I have a massive interest in global football and would find it an interesting read.
As for the rebranding of clubs its happened through the years and will continue to happen as teams and football evolves. Its a cyclic thing I suppose. Most clubs have changed things as times have gone by. Im sure when it happens the current fans affected dont like it but as long as its beneficial for the long term future then fans will accept it. For example the fuss newcastle fans kicked up with 'stadium re-naming' is now long forgotten.

Was not really trying to compare fee's, the point was £350,000 can secure a player like Gorkss, who had 172 championship games under his belt, 51 for Blackpool, 121 for Q.P.R, therefore is proven at that level, he also has 43 full international caps for Latvia.
Eunan O'Kane has 107 league 2 games under belt, so is only proven at league 2 level, and a string of youth international caps, has youth on his side though, so a higher divsion club would only be buying potential.
So why would a championship club want to pay £400,000 for a young player with potential, when as said above they could buy the finsihed article for £350,000.
One could serve the club for 10 plus years, possibly develop and become worth ALOT more. Their career could progress on wards
The other is going in opposite direction

Re: wheres our sniffer?
Jarvis is DEF a sniffer and in my opinion should be given a chance through the middle as he is our only striker thats first thought is to get into the box. I would be interested in seeing him and rene as a partnership. Might lack bit of pace but would certainly be a powerful pairing

Re: Form going into Play-offs
When it comes to form there is only 2 results that matter your last and next results.
Your last cos you should learn from it and your next as you have to you respond to it.
As for the rest forget it not relevant

Re: update page for play off tickets
The mid-day kick off has killed my hopes of going too. I dont drive, will never travel with travel club again after bad previous experience and as usual national rail have head up arse so no extra trains......GUTTED. But least its on skyaustrianandygull wrote:Hoping to get to the away leg but the midday kick off has really screwed things up. First of all i have to get my little un to my mums in Donny so she can babysit and then drive to Cheltenham from Donny to get into Chelts for about 11am. That will mean dropping my little un off at about 7.30 in the bloody morning meaning we have to get up at about 6am! With it being on sky and having already gone to Hereford PLUS all the hassle, i may have to rethink and give this a swerve. I'll sleep on it.

Re: Reuben Reid
Ta for that Jeff.
People said same about rene when it came needing to settle down. Could we do the same for reuben.
I certainly think we need to inject a bit of acceleration to our side in the summer as we are a bit one paced.
I already have a free signing I would love us to sign in summer that is Michael Bryan, right winger from watford. Was on loan at bradford start of season, has since been on trial at bournemouth and leyton orient since. Played for bournemouth res against us earlier in season he (and lyle Taylor, promising young striker) made LRT and Palmer look silly all afternoon. He was like macklin but with a football brain and a good final ball. Is DEF worth a look at the very least.

You thought about sending it to the club?
If they like it could be in the programme for the away tie

Re: BSP Play-Offs
Wrexham fought back to win 2-1 but was not enough. Luton through 3-2 on agg.
So its York v Luton in the final.
My moneys on Luton.

York through to final and luton 1 up in second leg so 3-0 on agg (with an away goal if they count?).
Looks likely luton will go through which is harsh on wrexham
