Eastleigh v Torquay United Tuesday 28 Dec KO 3pm

Have to say I thought we were a bit unlucky, although not sure my opinion counts for much as I took my 4yr daughter so wasn't as focused as usual! Great team goal in the first half, Little and Wright linked up really well. Not wanting to disagree about the tiredness but to me it didn't really look like a physical issue, we had dominated the first half completely (and probably should have put the game out of sight) but when we came out for the second half we seemed to go into our shell, Eastleigh countered and hit us hard on the break and we lost our shape for a while. We seemed to be back on an even footing when the pen was given, will be interesting to see it back as it looked very soft and the ref turned away before apparently changing his mind. Second goal I missed as I turned away when Macdonald seemed to have caught it, can only presume he dropped it into his own net. Both teams had late chances but a disappointing result as I really felt we were the better team. Little was excellent (please can someone else take corners though), good vision and passing throughout, I thought Martin was great and we tore them apart down the left in the first half. Centre backs were very strong too, no-one really had a bad game so a shame to lose to two individual errors (ref and keeper). Wright was a threat but doesn't look quite back to his old self, CLE had a good game although not everything quite came off for him. Felt we went a bit too negative but easy to say afterwards as 0-1 at half time against a decent team I suppose it made sense, we definitely had chances in the first half which would have put the game to bed.

MOTM - Eastleigh

Little - best creative player on the pitch by far
Martin - looked very assured and we were a big threat down the left first half
Lewis - another strong performance
Moxey - solid and some good interceptions
CLE - full of running and a threat, although not everything worked for him

Players wanted June 12th

Any London based (or nearby) Torquay fans fancy playing in a match this Saturday June 12th, 2pm kick off?

We realise this (almost) clashes with our play-off game....

The Torquay Pirates are playing a friendly match against another scratch team at Slough Town, Arbour Park, Sat June 12th and we have had 2 players pull out due to injury. It's a great afternoon out as we have kits, officials, physios, a professional camera crew (so you can watch the highlights of the game later), ideally we are looking for a centre back and a wide player but anyone welcome to message me.

The standard is mixed, some decent veterans, a few very good young academy players, and a some novices too. We've had a few players from the forum join us in the past so please do step forward if you want to play for the Pirates! (send me a private message and I can email details)...

Thanks very much, let's hope the boys do the business vs Notts County in the 12pm kick off!

Calling London Torquay fans who play...

If any London TUFC fans are free this Sunday 12th, I've organised a friendly at Sutton Utd with my scratch team The Torquay Pirates, playing The Flying Dutchmen, 5pm kick off. We have had 2 people pulling out if anyone would like to join us! It's a mix of standards (semi pros to novices) and ages (16-60), but fully organised with kits/officials/camerman filming the game etc...and it's a lot of fun.

Message me if you're interested!

Many thanks Chris

Impressive opposing players.

I thought Greg Luer was very good at Woking a few weeks ago
- great touch, and 2 goals. Surprised to hear he doesn't automatically start....

Ruari Keating

Best wishes Ruari for a speedy recovery.

Pretty sure it was his superb through ball to Reid that led to our first goal. Gerring's earlier tackle on Ruari (before he got taken out with the head injury) was disgraceful....could have been a straight red.

London pub to watch 1st leg

Hi folks.
Anyone watching the game in a London pub?
The Trader on Whitecrosss St nr Old St tube looks like it's def showing it, or the Clapham North (next to Clapham North tube) is normally pretty good. If a few of us were heading to the same place it would be great for some atmosphere, and I could call beforehand to check it was going to be shown...!
