So it seems that Paul Wooton is not the messiah! 1-0 down at half-time, he failed to inspire the players that he personally helped sign. Statistically, the worst result in 100 years and the local paper headline says it all "Gulls suffer humiliating FA Cup exit in disastrous display". When we win Paul says it is because they follow his clear plan and when they lose it is the players fault.
A big financial hit to be dumped out of the cup and a reality check on the manager.
The only way is up.

Charlie Baker on his podcast
Charlie Baker on his latest National league obsession podcast makes the point that when he is at a TUFC game he does not want to engage in polite football conversations with strangers.
I can imagine it can be a pain and he talks about it at length.
However, from a neutral point of view I can understand that a fan who has seen him perform at a local theatre or listens on Talk Sport really think they know him and have a connection.
Btw, the way the other half of his podcast John Cadigan has echoed the same view but he has no need to worry because nobody would recognise him if on his own.

50,000 pounds for a seat on the board.
Have I misread something because it seems that TUST are being offered a seat on the board for 50,000 pounds? And another seat if another 50,000 pounds is raised from a share offer?
Such seats are normally free to fan representatives.
If the previous board had come up with such an idea we would be marching to the club.
We love the new owners but it seems a lot of money for something that is normally free.
The comments on the website "special ‘heritage’ approval rights enshrined in the Articles which ensure that no majority owner can change the Club’s name, badge, home kit colours or nickname, or move the Club away from Plainmoor, without TUST’s agreement."
It is still 50 grand and I suspect a good lawyer could change anything. Also, no owner in over 125 years has wanted to change the club name. While no one will realistically move away from Plainmoor because the council own the freehold so you can't sell it.
50, grand for very little.
What am I missing?

Money talks in non-league and Boreham Wood are relatively rich. They might have 16 fans plus but more importantly Arsenal pay them big money to host their youth team games. They used to be home to the Arsenal women's team and still is occasionally their venue.
Yes, you need a team that play well together but being able to attract decent players certainly helps to secure those that can make a difference. As for the high turnover of players, that should not be an issue as non-league has plenty of players on one years contracts so it is normal in this league to completely transform the team. The fact we are signing some players on 2 year contracts is impressive.
I am quite sure we will be favourites to go up for the bookies.

I thought Oscar had a bad knee injury. One appearance for Morcambe last season. Oh well, we will soon find out.

Bryn Consortium Take-Over
The Australian lad who was playing at Newton had already been tentatively offered deals at top clubs a year ago. That is why the family suddenly moved back to the UK after his game against West Ham. In OZ he had been been playing for Perth FC in the A League which is a higher level than Torquay. Not a failure of scouting, just one of those things.

Full time V Part Time
If we go part-time there is no possibility of promotion. There simply are enough player sin the area compared to London etc.
Therefore, a mediocre part-time team would soon see crowds plummet and crowds will be below 1000 and more financial ruin around the corner. It happened in the Roberts era when a terrible team produced low crowd numbers.

Potential Buyers
Smurthwaite has had a Devon holiday home for years so it is a possibility and he did turn up to plenty of games according to old copies of the Herald Express.
Vale fans have mixed views but they loved him at the beginning dressing up in Smurf outfits. Over the years changing managers, spending a fortune on players who did not work out made people very angry.
He put in the money but judgement on football matters not the best and a few too honest comments to the local press made some fans unable to forgive him.
In 2014 he was beaten up by 3 Vales fans losing a couple of teeth. After that he surprisingly did not care too much for the club.
Would he be better than plummeting down a few leagues? Probably.

Torquay United v Hamptom & Richmond Borough Sat23rd (Devon Day)
My heart says 2-2 but my mind says 1-3.
I am no longer worried about relegation to the Southern league because there is still a strong possibility we will fold and be a few leagues below that.

Where's the money going?
Sadly, the debts of wages are very high. Also, according to match reports there are external administrators already in the building. Their job is to assesses what can be sold etc. Getting rid of players is obvious to lessen the wage bill.
A hidden cost is that the administrators charge huge fees for their services. There is no end in sight unless we get lucky with someone who is willing to take over the club and lose a lot of money.
Surely, the most likely scenario is that the club will fold.
We can then remerge in lower leagues and even then there will be no money to continue at Plainmoor.
I think this is reality.

As I understand it the players contracts are up once you move in admin. Jarvis and co will move on. Admin will bring a points reduction so we could be relegated. A full time team costs a fortune so we are doomed for several years.
A fan based takeover went sour when it happened a decade ago and who wants to take on a club which costs a fortune and always posts losses?
The logic is we will be dropped down several leagues once we get kicked out the national league south due to admin if no buyer is found to pay wages.
The only saving grace we still have Plainmoor as it is on lease from the council.
Why did no one protest against the owners at Ashton Gate?

The louder fans have been demanding Gary out and the owners should leave the club. Their dreams have come true.

**23rd March v Hampton & Richmond** - Big Protest Day
If nobody can afford to take over the club what difference will a protest make except create a toxic atmosphere?
If 30 fans remortgage their homes that would be a start but as we we all moan about a few pence added to the beer prices, nobody is going to raise any money.
“We are talking about a small group but I think they should stay at home if they are going to be like that, because it clearly affected the players on the pitch. It was just unacceptable in my view … I think I deserve more respect too”
Not Gary as some would like to think but Norwich boss David Wagner gets the funk on with some Canaries fans who were less than supportive towards his substitutions during the 4-2 win over Watford which has lifted them into the Championship playoff places.

Worthing v Torquay United 0-1
The result will send some fans mad and the chants of Gary out will multiply. Then again, some of the most vocal seem to support Premier league teams first and Torquay second.
