Cheers buryfan, there is a lot of doom and gloom after the run we've been on, but I think a manager will divide opinion at any club given his past failings/successes.
What brand of football can we expect? Would we be looking at 'hoof-ball' or was he a manager who encourages the ball to be zipped along the ground?

Re: To cheer us up in a time of doom...
Were people genuinly suggesting that our board would've considered Buckle to come back in?
They wouldn't have approached him if they were a group of failing alcoholics and he had his own chain of off-licences. When he left, although the timing was terrible, the board hardly put up much of a fight to keep him, in fact I think one of the consortium offered to drive him to Rovers!!!

Re: Alan Knill - CONFIRMED
There's only 1 man in football with an almost 100% success rate, and he is off to Bayern Munich next season, so who people were expecting to take over God only knows. Alan Knill is exactly the type of appointment I was expecting. He is experienced, and although he has failed in the past, he also has success to his name.
As others have mentioned, we need someone who can get the lads to show a bit of fight, courage and desire to actually keep us in this division, and a bit of fresh blood seems to be on the cards too.
Let's give the new manager the backing he really needs, and maybe leave the negativity at home on Saturday, as we need all the help we can get at the moment.

Re: The sooner we get a coach in the better...
Let's face it, anyone who comes in won't have a perfect track record. We're not appointing long term at this stage, so we just need that one person who has a decent record at motivating over a short space of time.
To that end, I think that Keith Curle would be an outstanding choice for the remaining months, as would anyone who can motivate the players to a couple of wins to haul us back up the table a bit.

Re: The sooner we get a coach in the better...
From what I have heard, and it could be a million miles away from the truth, but given where it has come from I believe it to be credible, is that Lingy has been diagnosed with a very serious illness and will NOT be returning to the club, but the club can't be seen to push him out, nor do they want to. They are actively seeking a new manager to take charge of the first team, ideally on a short term basis to give Martin time to have treatment and offer him the chance to return in the summer if he is in the right shape to come back.
My personal opinion is that I cannot see him fighting this, and then choosing to commute in the same way as he has been doing, and I would anticipate a new, full time manager in the summer, whether it will be the same person who takes over for the next few months, who knows...
