Re: Joke police
I brought a young lad (local) aged 16 in who was disappointed with the home atmosphere - we need to take this on board - he won't be returning! Sad. He is also a promising local footballer with Bovey - has played for EC youth and Devon U16's. I know that comparatively yesterday's atmos was good but i am relaying what he told me......ROADRUNNER wrote:best he sticks to watching villa then, :na:

Spot on !friendlygas wrote:Oh what a cardinal sin to chant "You're going down". Does this really deserve to be escorted from the ground? Have some of you ever seen trouble at football grounds? I think the stewarding and Policing at the match yesterday and around the ground was excellent and I don't think some of you realise just how often trouble is caused at football matches by overzealous stewarding and policing. The only way that things would have turned nasty yesterday would have been if the police had become heavy handed and it is only at those times that what starts as a handful of troublemakers suddenly turns to hundreds being involved.

Re: Joke police
Agreed SG - it was a safe environment and my daughter (15) boyfriend, and my wife did not feel threatened - even walking through the gas heads down the lane. My daughters boyfriend watches A.Villa - he can tell us about REAL trouble! Just a shame that he won't be coming again because he reckons it was a dead atmosphere on our part - esp 1st half.....

Re: Joke police
Yawn Yawn... rise above it - Rovers fans on the whole were good natured and respectful. We sat next to some in the Family Stand - yes they cheered when their team scored - so what? If we can't get along together as human beings with mutal respect it's actually sad.
I brought my wife and daughter and her boyfriend (all first time) and all 3 were amazed at the lack of atmosphere generated by TUFC fans for such a crucial game. They will not be coming again. They were however impressed by the passion and atmosphere the Rovers fans created. They did not feel threatened at all by them. Although a different story when some middle age meat head BR fans kicked off at some TUFC fans outside Wetherspoons later! Which the police handled effectively and swiftly i might add.
BTW i think the police & stewards were spot on not to intervene at the ground - would have provoked a bad reaction from some.

At least they won't be complacent then! That is my fear for our players - hope they are made to realize the4 job is NOT done yet!

Re: The last time
I seem to recall these names from that nightmare: Dean Oliver, Adam Murray,Jordan Robertson, and long throw man James Sharp. Our squad is a lot better - but mismanaged in my opinion..

Re: I would drop Rene....
I agree tauntongull. Rene was clearly dis-interested yesterday in my view, he did not have that edge about him. His body language suggested he was not up for a battle. Also i noticed that when Brasso shouted an instruction at him he just laughed! I too would give young Ashley another go.
