Billy Bodin

I think if we are patient with Billy he will develop. He is still a young lad with a lot to learn but with an abundance of ability. Who knows, we could turn a profit on the fee we paid in a couple of years.

Tom Cruise

Kevin Nicholson is one of my favourite Torquay Players over the last 10 years but I fear that his legs may have gone or at least be on the way out.

The issue is however that Knill clearly isn't sure about Cruise. I think he deserves his chance so we shall see...

Swindon Town v Torquay United - 6/8/13 - Cup

Bloody hell, from BBC...

Torquay have lost five in a row in the League Cup and are without a win in 10 (D2, L8).
Bournemouth are the only club they have knocked out in 17 years, doing so in the first round in 1997 and again in 2001.

We are due a win in this competition!

I would be incredibly shocked if any player at the club was on more than £1500 including Rene. Sounds like he was talking crap!

Swindon Town v Torquay United - 6/8/13 - Cup

I reckon we could pull off a win. We are an unknown entity going there with nothing to lose. Our young, quick wingers could be an issue. Knill likes to attack and what better game to go all out.
A cup run would do us the world of good financially and would provide some serious entertainment. Paul Buckle was a good cup manager (in the FA cup and trophy admittedly) and managed to get his players up for the games. Perhaps Knill will do the same.

If you scroll down there should be six separate podcasts. If not, go to thisissouthdevon and it is quite high on the TUFC section.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but there is a decent podcast preview of the new signings by David Thomas and Guy Henderson of the Herald.

The money would help a lot. Our league cup record of recent years has been terrible. The 2001 trip to Spurs would be great to repeat!

I think that Richinns is right here. We do need time to be in and I think people should be patient for the first 10 games or so. New management, new players, new system. It will all take a bit of time.

Decent enough start, first game together. We did not want to lose at home in the first game.

Re: Our New Signings

wodger of awabia wrote:I am never very impressed with historical stats. I.M.O. they mean nothing.
For example if you take the number of goals scored by these six players & divide it by the number of games that they have played you will see that all we can expect from them is 0.0932 goals per game, or 4.28904 league goals per season. Absolute nonsense isn't it? but mathematically correct.

Surely as there are six of them and you have worked out an average, you would expect 0.0932 x 6 goals per game from this lot. Which would be 0.5592 goals per game. That would be 26 goals per season from this lot.
Not great but perhaps not as bad as the 4 goals you were talking about!
As you say...the stats are all rubbish anyway.
