Err, excuse me. Long throw comes in, therefore, not off side, Cooke heads backwards and Welling player passes back to Cooke. Goal.
Good pressure in first 15 minutes. Rest was a lot of effort with no incisiveness. Rhys Lovett got fingers to that Hasani shot too.
Another disappointing trip to the home of chicken shops and nail bars.

New manager announced - Paul Wotton
Well, Luke Young didn’t quite make it to league 1. He is 31 and maybe if we can make him the dreaded “marquee” signing, why not? Apparently on 1k per week at Wrexham. Maybe some wriggle room offloading a bit of dead wood. Wotton surely would be wishing, and hopefully digging. The Great Muta! wrote: ↑19 May 2024, 08:12 I never said you did, I'm trying to understand why you said something about negativity?, I saw the posts about Hoilett and Young, and i mentioned it wouldn't happen along with league 1 players dropping down to regional football, Ive said on this platform that Paul Wotton is a fantastic manager and it's great he's joined us, I just don't want to much over involvement from Neil, on the training pitch,in the dug out, tactics and formation etc all need to kept to Paul and he needs the breathing space to do his job, his way ...and for whatever reason that's deemed as negative?

Welling v Torquay Sat 6th Apr 3pm
The team deserved a point ultimately.
They did play with effort and passion
The 441 with Tom on, had good shape and they dominated Welling to be fair, even with 10 men.
Just not good enough in front of goal.
McGavin, hold your hand up for that woeful track back that allowed their shot, that yes, Halstead should have saved.
Seen worse. Still hope.

MOTM - Welling
Arkell Jude Boyd - linked up well with Stobbs in attack. The latters delivery was poor
Will JD- Plenty of effort supporting Dwazza especially in first half
D Ofori A - Had plenty to do by himself drew the attention of Welling defence and made a few openings but missed a big chance
Tom - Did his Tom thing.
Reluctantly Stobbs. Played well, especially with AJB but his delivery was poor

Torquay United v Hamptom & Richmond Borough Sat23rd (Devon Day)
Hampton & Richmond are a very good side at this level and beat us at a canter earlier in the season when we were “good”.
Ben Seymour, (Exeter, Plymouth Parkway, Bideford) their striker, was excellent and I worry for our defence with him on form. He was signed by Mel Gwinnett (Exeter) who dragged him up to Hampton from Plymouth Parkway.
Can we have them both down here next season please?

Tonbridge Angels v Torquay United, March 16 3pm
Just another reminder. The roads will be horrific past Basingstoke, maybe before. If you’re travelling up you need to keep south. The diversions in place will be gridlocked.standupsitdown wrote: ↑14 Mar 2024, 13:19 A reminder for anyone travelling that the M25 is closed east of the M3 junction this weekend. The diversion will add a lot of time to journeys - as will alternative routes from Torquay.

Weymouth F C V Torquay United Sat 2 March KO 3pm
Think Weymouth were encouraging fans to have a drink in their clubhouse to keep funds in football and maybe going some way to paying back those fivers Weymouth are giving our club.

That line up looks like we’re playing for the 0-0.
Fair enough under the circumstances.

Problem is all the players have something to give but they’re not the full package. Asa used to be, Mox used to be but the rest are playing here for a reason. Mc gavin is Jan Molby 25% of time. Jarvis is Giroud 25% of the time. As has been said a few 50% loans are needed fast.
Currently at England v Italy. Ain’t much better. If I bump in to Watkins I’ll see if he’s up for a loan move

So, we nicked that with two good goals. Total was four shots, two were on target and both scored. Think they had 13 or 14, and will be wondering how they didn’t beat us. Don’t let the result fool you into the fact we are papering over the cracks.
