Would be good to see you Andy. Did go to the St Albans game at the end of last season. Will look out for you and yes it was the ScottishGull whistle incident I remember - met the wrath of other Gulls fans....Yorkieandy wrote: ↑13 Sep 2019, 23:59 I'm thinking i might end my 5 year protest exile and go to this. I can walk it from my gaff in 15 minutes.
Dunno what to expect really. My last game was win at Mansfield in the last away game in the FL. Not sure how well received i'd be from the likes of Chris, Paul, Tony et al if i bumped into you guys in the away end.
Last time i went to a direites v gulls game i was with Scottishgull who got kicked out for interrupting the match with his refs whistle. Or it might have been that game where Joss Labadie got banned for biting one of their lads.
Christ. Where does time go?!

Chesterfield FC v Torquay United 14/9/19
Will be there tomorrow, having purchased my ticket online, although had trouble entering my details and took forever. Adult price £18 online - printed my ticket at home. £19 at the ground, it does say ticket window closes 15 mins before kick-off, on their website.
Expect a decent number of Northern Gulls to be there, hopefully to see a Gulls win.

Truro in National League South play-offs
tomogull - I think you will find that it was Maidstone that Truro lost to - Margate, while also in National League South, finished one place above the relegation zone - surviving by having a one goal better advantage than Havant and Waterlooville. Former Gull, Elliott Benyon's Hayes and Yeading were also relegated as were Basingstoke.tomogull wrote:I don't think we're going to see Truro in the National League next season - they lost 2 - 0 in the first leg at home to Margate. But that's taking nothing away from what Steve Tully and Wayne Carlisle have achieved in Truro's first season in the National South.

I will be going to the game from Donny. I would prefer Boredom Wood to get relegated, purely to get two Northern games to go to next season.

Barrow game
I seem to remember that Barrow had to - frequently - have to seek for Re-election to the Football League, having invariably finished bottom of Division 4

Well done to the Gulls, a cracking result - a few nervy moments (listening to the game on the radio) - the table is looking a whole lot better tonight. Keep it going lads. COYY.

I need to go more often - been to 4 Northern away games this season (Lincoln Grimsby Alfreton and Halifax) 3 wins, the only debacle was the televised loss at Alfreton.
Arrived early at the ground and was afforded some good hospitality - free Pie and mushy peas when purchasing a pint in the Shay Bar- made to feel very welcome by the Halifax locals.
128 Gulls at the game, giving good vocal support (once it got going) - plentiful choruses of 'Yellow Army' and SNW's 'sort it out Hargreaves' - what was quite odd was the recorded / piped home support over the tannoy system!
It was good to see the Gulls closing down quickly throughout the game, not allowing Halifax to control the ball on a very difficult playing surface.
Lavercombe produced a point blank save in the first half and a very good save with his feet in the second half, spreading himself well. He commanded his area and looked safe and assured coming for crosses - his kicking was good too.
Campbell's goal not only bamboozled their keeper, but most of the Gulls Fans, Most of us thought he had fluffed his kick wide of the goal - but after totally miskicking it, it trickled into the net.
Daniel's goal was the complete opposite - a 35 yard Free Kick pile driver / screamer - as already mentioned, worth the entry fee itself. Certainly one of the best Torquay goals I've ever seen.
The Players certainly enjoyed celebrating the win after, with the travelling Gulls.
