Far too young to be considered by GJ then…

I hope his new manager doesn’t play him on the left wing. That would be anti-football!

Just in case anyone attending tonight has anything illegal in their pockets, be aware that there’s a woman with a sniffer dog just inside the gate.

Torquay United v Aldershot Town 24/8/19

dawlishmatt wrote: 25 Aug 2019, 18:52 I have a question for all the Jamie Reid fans on this forum. Reid has played well over 100 times for Torquay. Since the mid 1970s when I first started supporting the club, where does Reid rank amongst the strikers we've had in the last 40 years. Players like Willie Brown, Clint Boulton, Steve Cooper, Les Lawrence, David Graham, Mark Loram, Tim Sills, and the dozens of other goalscorers that have played for the club. I'd be very surprised if anyone would have Reid in their top 20.
Well done Matt,

You’ve managed to convince most of us that you’re not Uncle Clarke’s stooge.

Now please stop trying to pretend you know what you’re talking about by making posts about subjects beyond your knowledge. In your (less than) comprehensive list of goal scorers you have managed to forget (or not know about) both Paul Dobson AND Dave Caldwell. A heinous omission in my book. Sort it out mate or people will start to call you much worse than an idiot.

Oh, and by the way, I went to see my GP last week and he says my mental health is fine.

& to all of you who were crying in their panda pops when Luke Young deserted a sinking ship thinking he was bigger & better than the club he let down in spades & despite being a major contributor to the lowest point TUFC ever found its self jn.
Would you have him back now ?
No.

I’ve called him a fat Argyle wanker before and been vilified for it by some on this forum but my opinion hasn’t changed and I don’t think he’d manage to force his way into this team.

I have to say I think he was always competent in a Torquay shirt, albeit in a succession of dire teams. I would, however, like to think that there are far superior options available on the market for GJ to pursue and have confidence that he will deliver a better central defender for the club than Ben Gerring.

Let’s not get too carried away

I thought my post was largely positive and I’m certainly enjoying today’s achievement. I was just trying to bring attention to potential ‘icebergs around the corner’. Maybe I’m just a bit more of a glass half empty personality. I realise that sometimes rational statements are greeted with derision on this type of forum.

Let’s not get too carried away

I don’t want to be a party pooper and I’m delighted that we’ve won the league BUT...

Let’s just remember that this was a season spent in regional football with a full-time squad of professional footballers playing against part-time opposition. I would love it if we could achieve back-to-back promotions and return from non-league football (because that’s what the National League is too) to the actual football league.

Should that be achieved I would be genuinely happy but this joy would still be tempered by the FACT that we will have only returned to the place we were before we became really shit. I’m really not trying to put a downer on things. I think Gary Johnson has done a magnificent job in turning around our fortunes and I sincerely hope he can galvanise us for a promotion push next season too.

I would also like to highlight that nobody really knows the true intentions/motivation of our owner and that he could pull the plug on investment in the club whenever he sees fit.

Just want there to be a bit of balance on the forum. That’s all.

This will be done early next week. I was told that I could pick up tickets from Twerton Park as well, as I only live a few miles away in Bristol, so I would imagine they'll keep quite a few back, perhaps to be sold on the day.
Sounds like I’ll be able to pick it up on the day then. That’ll be alright.

That’s sad news. He was always a good ‘homer’ for us at STC Colts; probably since his son Richard played for us as well. RIP

Alex Bass

Bass’ return to Pompey opens up a loan spot in the first team squad. We will now only be fielding (if selected) the Bristol City quartet and thus Gary Johnson has the opportunity to bolster the team with a further loan acquisition. I think we’re sufficiently well covered in defence, so maybe another attacking option? I’m sure he’s all over it already. It will be interesting to see if there is any activity over the forthcoming days.
