I agree cricket grounds have stands and entrance gates named after certain legends of the club. Why not football. The Ian Twitchen entrance/gates/turnstiles would be a nice touch.Teigngull wrote: ↑03 Dec 2017, 19:38 I'm hoping the club could do the right thing & honour Twitch with some memorial at plainmoor with the recognition he deserves. I realise everything nailed or glued down has a paying sponser attached to it these days, but some sort of plaque or something better would be a fantastic sentiment to Twitch. Here's hoping .

Dazza wrote: ↑09 Sep 2017, 20:06 I felt sorry for Herrera in that home box on his own. Hung out there for Merse and his mates to continue to slaughter. Can we now shut the hell up about Nicholson and his tyres and how quiet Herrera is and all the needless vitriol that runs with it and around it. A lot of people know a lot more about football than I do for sure but a life lesson I do know is that there is absolutely nothing to be learnt from exaggerated obsession with what is past. People do their best as they see it's really just as simple as that.

Can i make a suggestion to the club as they are hopeless in communicating with us in normal ways maybe do something like the Vatican does when choosing a new pope.
At 5pm everyday blue smoke over plainmoor if no new manager appointed and yellow when appointed. Muich more interesting than the usual press conference announcement.

If he comes back I will reserve judgement and give him my support. But can't say I was very impressed last time, 5 at the back while heavily relying on long throw ins as an attacking option. It was boring stuff and not very successful.

Nicholson sacked 17/08
Well I would like to thank Nico n my view we survived the last 2 seasons because of him not in spite of him. His work off the pitch trying to gain more interest in the club is not to be sniffed at also.
Should he go now well I have an open mind Tuesday was my first match of the season and it was dreadful. But time will tell if a new manager does any better.
He certainly was not a shite manager like one or two very rude and thoughtless people are saying.

SACK NICHOLSON!!
Should he be sacked well maybe, but my view is he deserves a few more matches yet. He was good enough for them to start the season so how can you sack him 3 games later. At the end of the day this is the boards decision alone.
i have a question for Arry with an H. If people came into your place of work and started shouting to everyone that you sir are rubbish at your job and you should be sacked sacked sacked If you stay there will be no company left then how would you feel?
Yes you are entitled to your opinion and yes this is a forum. However I was following the match day thread all afternoon and I'm not sure what was more annoying the teams performance or yours.

The European Union: We're out...!!!
"The EU needs us more than we need them" Where does this sort of intelligent thinking come from? Certainly not from Europe. Maybe when we make our own set of rules again the standard of English lessons in schools will improve.
On a separate note where has gullscorer gone. I don't agree with many of his views. But I hope he's ok.

merse btpir wrote: ↑02 Aug 2017, 12:00 I know you will protest your innocence but this racist based innuendo and diatribe is both tiresome and discredited. The same could be said of 'migrants' of Devonians who went to London in search of work that paid over and above the peasant levels that were available in the area when I was a teenager.
Believe me I worked for a lower wage than was the norm at my first London employer to gain a foot hold and subsequently lived in conditions such as you describe; and it was the same in reverse in Torbay with many summer migrants/seasonal workers coming down from Liverpool and Glasgow packed into tiny bedsits. The same story could be told of Jersey, Bournemouth and Brighton with the summer workers being disparaged by the incumbent locals.
Being exploited by cheap jack - two bob employers with no scruples is nothing to do with where the employee comes from but everything to do with cynicism and exploitation ~ a Tory would call it 'Market Forces' ~ and stupid rhetoric such as yours only goes to further exacerbate the problem.
For feck's sake man; half the jobs the Asians who came to the UK and undertook weren't being done by those already here anyway and much the same has been the case ever since...........why do you think the National Health Service, London Transport, Joe Lyons and other major employees set up direct recruitment in the Caribbean after the Second World War; why do you think companies like Stagecoach directly recruited in Poland fifteen years ago? I once had a job accompanying English speaking Poles, Czechs and Lithanians in their first weeks of work to enable then to come to terms with the local accents and phraseology they had to encounter along their bus routes!
