I can categorically confirm that Darryl Eales did support Moor Green as a boy . Mr Eales still has a just under 10% share in OUFC and has a repayment plan in place to recoup a sizeable sum owed to him/his company following the sale of the Club to the present owner. He has obviously invested in Solihull quite heavily over the past 12 months and I would imagine will continue to do so.Plainmoor78 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2019, 11:20 Darryl Eales, former Oxford United chairman (2014-18). Seems he was a Moor Green supporter as a boy, or that is what he says. Took over in August 2018 and saw the team to fill time resulting in Moors finishing 2nd in league.

I seem to remember Dartmouth YMRC playing on Coronation Rec - they then amalgamated with DUFC.Southampton Gull wrote: ↑03 Jan 2019, 10:58 I remember those clubs with fondness from my childhood days. My father and uncle used to play for Dartmouth YMRC and I well remember the Beesands pitch and it's proximity to the beach. Happy times and some lifelong memories.

Josh Gowling has signed a 'permanent' deal with Hereford FC according to news out of Edgar Street this evening.Swatcat wrote: ↑15 Sep 2018, 08:04 Noticed this from 'Wolborough' on another thread - Josh Gowling's loan to Alfreton extended for the whole season.
I guess that'll be welcomed by most - fact is, Gowling seems to be happy up there so no point in returning to us anyway.

The size of their crowds is irrelevant. There is no ground in Cornwall that meets with National League South standards. The Chairman confirmed they had looked at Bodmin as a possibility but found out that it would cost approximately £300,000 to bring it up to the required standard. Paying TUFC £30,000 for the use of Plainmoor was obviously a cheaper option!standupsitdown wrote: ↑25 Nov 2018, 19:10 Why did they choose to come all the way to Torquay to play home games?
Surely there must be other grounds capable of holding a few hundred in Cornwall.

CP Gull wrote: ↑23 Nov 2018, 16:17 Although it would seem that Treyew Road has passed its test and in theory could be used as early as the first week in December which had originally been mooted - Truro City have taken the “surprising” (not really!) decision to remain ground sharing at Plainmoor at least until the New Year. In other words to take in our “away” game against them which now seems set to take place at Plainmoor after all! Mr Masters gives his rationale behind the decision on their official website, citing their recent upturn in form (unbeaten in their last 5 games} as the main reason and not wishing to upset that!
I can remember speculating a few weeks back, whether Truro would hold off on a return to Cornwall until after THAT game on New Years Day ..... simply because as the “home” team they will get all the gate receipts (although I understand we keep the bar receipts - likely to be pretty substantial I would think!) and if we continue to do as well as we are at the moment, who knows what sort of crowd we might get at Plainmoor for that one, perhaps 3000, perhaps even 4000? Whereas if it were played at Treyew Road they would be lucky to get a third of that surely? Simply for the sake of a few lower gates (at Plainmoor) during the month of December, I reckon they may have taken the “commercial” decision that the potential rewards of a bumper gate on NYD at Plainmoor is worth holding off on an immediate return back to Truro! At least it should boost their average home attendance quite significantly!!!!
So, good news for us I think, albeit it will mean the pitch having to host a few more games !

Teigngull wrote: ↑03 Nov 2018, 12:37 A few games you say ! Plainmoor has already staged enough games to constitute a full season to date, even GJ was privately concerned, we shouldn't of even thought about entertaining them the way we have if we have serious designs on getting promotion first time of asking.
Your snowflake attitude is one of the main reasons we are where we are today, professional football is ruthless so why hand your main protagonists an advantage even before a ball is kicked, stop being such a powder puff nobody remembers who comes second.
I would suggest that when the £30,000 was gratefully accepted, there was no way achieving promotion first time of asking was in the equation! It is only since the arrival of GJ that this becomes a possibility.

TUFC were happy to accept the £30,000 from Peter Masters for the ground share arrangement to be put in place!
I fail to see how the few games TCFC have played at Plainmoor to date has seriously inconvenienced or affected you to the extent that you have to make such a statement!
Now, if the arrangement happened to continue throughout the forthcoming possible wet months, then the pitch would obviously suffer and your rather harsh comment would then have some merit.

Truro ground share back on?
This pretty well brings you up to date.MellowYellow wrote: ↑11 Oct 2018, 23:39 Hard to know what exactly is going on with TCFC.
Cornish Pirates have pledged an extra £1m towards the Stadium for Cornwall project amid worries over Truro City's ability to contribute. Truro & Penwith College have pledged the other £1m that is outstanding.
What we do know is the Stadium for Cornwall will be owned by the Cornish Pirates, who will have freehold title thereby taking the full financial risk on the project.
The other two partners, Truro & Penwith College & TCFC, will have 125 year leases at a peppercorn rent - subject to them providing their £2million contribution.
I assumed that TCFC had stumped up their contribution -when they moved away from Treyew Road. But then again who is "in the know" on the precise issues of the 106 / Helical deal. But there are concerns that Helical, the firm that bought Truro City's ground, will not pay the club before construction is due to start.
In the unfortunate case that TCFC are unable to stump up their contribution then the agreement falls away and TCFC would have to join under a different commercial deal. Things are not looking good for TCFC.

Gulliball wrote: ↑21 Sep 2018, 12:42 We're strong in the centre of defence, so why not take a chance on someone trying to rebuild his career if it fits the budget. He's had one bad injury rather than recurring issues, so playing regular football could be exactly what he needs at this moment in time. Without the injury it sounds like he would have stayed at Swindon and be in the Football League, so there's potential there for everyone to benefit. We've made a few signings like this in the last few years - not all have worked out, but you live in hope of getting another Jason Fowler. If the worst comes to the worst, Cameron and Niate have started the season excellently, and we also have Essuman and Sokolik (a player in a similar situation career/injury wise). From these five players we should be able to get a good back two/back three/holding midfielder on the pitch every week.
It'll be interesting to see where else GJ looks to bring players in, as you'd think we were comparatively strong at CB (unless we're keeping the back three). We don't have much (any?) competition at full back or on the wings, and have dreamed of a 20 goal a year striker for years now. He kept the same side as Owers for Hungerford, but only took over 2 days before. It'll be interesting to see how he lines us up when he's assessed the squad and put his own stamp on them, given how it was built for the 5-3-2 formation.

Why don't you put your faith in the Manager's judgement?Road2League2 wrote: ↑21 Sep 2018, 09:12 Personally I’m all for the recent news and signings we’ve made. Landing GJ was fantastic + I’m impressed with Jake from Bristol. However I am worried we’re getting too excited over JSW. We’re talking about a player here who’s played just 53 games of club football and he’s 24. Also lacks confidence after never taking off after QPR, faced a terrible injury and has little experience since.
Am I being a miserable sod or am I right to be apprehensive? COYY

I have always liked Gary Johnson, especially when he was at Yeovil. I thought he conducted himself admirably yesterday and interviewed commendably. I thought I saw a few smiles along the way as well!
I predict a much brighter future now for TUFC!
