Talking Torquay

Good morning all!

A tricky podcast this week but we got there in the end. With relegation confirmed we look back at Saturday's game at Hartlepool, reflect on the season as a whole. We also hear from Michel Thomas, the chairman of TUST, who provides an insight into what they're doing behind the scenes. Let us know what you think. Obviously, there's going to be lots of opinions floating around at the moment.

Good afternoon all. Just a quick note to say there is no podcast from us this week (don't all sigh at once!). Stephen is feeling rather under the weather and I lost my voice over the weekend so there will be no podcast from us this week. Normal service will resume next week. Our fate may even be sealed by that point, which will give us plenty to talk about. Episode 34, which threw up some interesting debates, is above if you feel the need to hear our lovely voices in the meantime.

Apologies for any inconvenience. Don't miss us too much! :)

Talking Torquay

A difficult podcast this week. Our fate is almost sealed after a 3-1 home defeat against Fylde on Tuesday night. In Ep.34 we address the reality of our situation, hear from fans about where and how the season spiralled out of control and look ahead of Saturday's game.

A lot of talking points in this week's show. Would love to hear your thoughts. We've tried to give both sides of the story and you're more than welcome to agree or disagree.

Better late than never, this week's podcast is here.

There's a review of both the games over Easter as well as a look at the run-ins after 10 points from 12, points targets to stay up and a look ahead to Dover away.

Enjoy.

Fingers crossed we will be a big fish and will jump straight back up again.

Loving the Podcast

Next season is an opportunity for us to do better, yes I agree it won't be easy for us but we can always make it easier by making it difficult for the opposition week in week out.

Absolutely agree. This was another point I made in the pod, perhaps the bigger challenge for Owers (if he stays) is turn around the negative mentality at the club. We’ve been fighting relegation consecutively in recent years, next season we have to go out and try and win the damn thing!

Good afternoon all!

Considering my comments about next season caused a bit of a debate in here, we took it to this week's podcast. With no game to discuss we go into a bit more detail about why I still think we'll be 'the big fish' in the NL South and the problems that could pose throughout the season. There's also some chatter about young managers vs experienced heads and a look ahead to Saturday at Chester. Enjoy!

If you look at the National League North, I'd tend to agree, that's a far more competitive league with some big teams in there, but I don't think it is quite so close with the South.

Being the first FL league club to play in the division will be a big thing, to begin with anyway! I'm sure the novelty will run out quite quickly though.

Forest gull wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 10:12 Bit annoyed at the 'Conference South is a Tough league' quote. Really? come on Ryan, don't even start thinking along those lines. A club with our set up and fan base etc should not be worried about Conference South, that sort of attitude just feeds into the Owers/Harrop/Osborne excuse bucket
There are definitely some factors that are going to make it a tough season. We should be aiming to win the league, play-offs at the very least. However, we're going to be the 'big fish' in the league, which presents problems in itself. For a lot of teams in the lower half of the division, we'll be their cup final.

Plus the fact it is likely we're going to have a squad overhaul, there's that to contend with. Not to mention the possibility of a change in management? On paper, it is not an extremely difficult league, but I don't think it's going to be as a straightforward as you seem to suggest.
