Bishops Cleeve FC v Torquay United Sat 14 Sept KO 3pm

My ( very controversial ) ten pence worth.
We had no intention of winning. The financial rewards of winning isn't great until you get further on in the competition. ( We probably made a loss on Saturday. ) I'm sure that PW said earlier on that our budget was based on gates of 2,000 and we seem to be getting a good injection through the share offer.
Surely the Target this season is promotion. With that in mind do we need the distraction of a cup run and the risk of injuries and fatigue on players.
Financially the rewards of promotion out of this league will outweigh the pitiful rewards from a cup run unless we draw a big team in the third round and you have to win quite a few games to get that far, and that all depends on luck.

This is my opinion only and not an accusation of the club.

I hope we win, and I hope that we can give them a massive payday with a bumper crowd.

Set Pieces, Strategy, Game Plan

Got to agree with Portugull. Our set pieces are very frustrating and unadventurous. As he says, there are many Ideas on MOTD which we could try. Yes our players are not premiership superstars, but then neither are the opposition defenders at this level. To me it seems that the set pieces are the same old thing time and time again, players in the box waiting for the cross and no running off the ball to draw defenders out of position, or time and time again high balls into the box for our two smallish strikers that are just headed out by six foot six centre halves.

People mostly annoy me, especially those at football who feel they know more than someone who trains the players every day and has maybe played 500 professional matches. Says we should be playing this formation or playing a certain way, I don’t care, I just want to watch the game.

I also don’t get why at 3.35 a mass of people head to Boots and Laces, can’t you just stand and talk where you are?
No. Not aimed at anyone in particular, and no offence meant to anyone. I don't think I've ever talked about formations, just footie in general. I do see your point about people that think they know it all, they would bore me too.
On the other hand, my mate who comes with me and knows absolutely bugger all about football does often raise some interesting points about whats going on.

I usually talk about the footie with whoever I'm next to in the Gulls nest and also with whoever sits next to me on the bench, but then, I'm a sociable person not a miserable billy no mates.

Austen Booth banned

Harsh to take away the Lads livelihood. And effectively put him on the dole. If the club don't sack him then it's a punishment on the club which had nothing to do with it. A long ban for a premiership player is one thing, most of them seem to be awash with money, whereas a lad on £500 or so a week is a different matter. I would have thought that a community service sentence would have been more appropriate.

Farnborough 1 Gulls 2. Another tough game, but things are starting to come together for us now. We seem to improve every game.

Good that the result table is already posted.......unfortunately I can not read it on my phone, it appears all burred.
Tried to expand the text without much success. I guess you are using some modern technology to post it. My phone is pretty basic, old, out of date and somewhat lacking. Some would say just like me!

Can I please ask, if there is another way to post the info.

Sorry if it causes problems but I would appreciate being able to read your posts.
Thank you.
If it helps, you're 49th :goodpost: And I'm top

Torquay United v Enfield Town(VNLS game 1) - Aug 10th

Good to see us start the season with a full compliment of fit players all of whom put a shift in. Two teams that wanted to play football and not kick lumps out of each other, and a ref that was happy to play advantage and bring back play if necessary.
Only downside for me was trying to get served in the Gulls nest and the queue at the tea bar for a coffee.
