Dread to think what the home gates will be once the 1000-ticket giveaways stop. :-/

I have thought over the last couple of matches there seems to be a group of players that are no longer have any interst in what Johnson is saying , last seasons remainers are a shadow of their former selves. This is not a one off, it happened to Johnson at cheltenham and also at Yeovil, he is old school and these days you have to be a lot gentler with these precious little footballers.
As inportantly as our anger in this latest defeat is the economics, a team apparently incapable of winning will materially affect the gate on saturday when one of the least attractive home fixtures comes round, if the crowd is anything lower than 1500 which I think it could well be then upstairs will start to get very nervous.
Also you have to ask why a national south team with an average 700 gate and no multi million pound owner can afford such a squad , what are they doing so well or creatively that we are doing so badly.
The gate will be artificially inflated this weekend as the club are handing out 1000 free tickets to community clubs/disadvantaged groups etc.

Torquay United v Havant & Waterlooville FC Sat 16 Oct KO 3pm 3pmm

I'm quite qenuinely concerned for us. 2019/20 season before it got called off due to covid we were pretty poor and flirting with relegation spits.
Last season was a freak. No fans home or away and byy some strange reason we managed to get to the play off final.
Then boom the players that helped us manage that play-off last season move on and we are left with a team of dross. What quality can we realistically expect when the majority of the new signings are bunked up in the Gulls Lodge. Let's be serious now. What player of any genuine quality can we expect to push us on to the next level when they aren't even paid enough to be able to find a pad of their own.
This season is about survival. End of. We look a very very poor team. And the funniest thing is the best players we've had or do have happen to have been players who were here under Owers....CLE, Wynter, Cameron, MacDonald, Reid, Andrews

Watched it on BT Sport. We just look devoid of any flare or invention. We beat a poor Wealdstone side but that certainly seemed an anomaly. Shudder to think what the next home league game attendance will be. Sub-2000?

Great performance. O'Connell looked a different player and what a warrior Lapslie is. Disappointed with the gate. Sub-2000 home fans. Hopefully it was just the weather that put people off and not the ridiculous no-cash-on-gate policy. After yesterday's win surely a few more will turn up next time.

Promotion chasing Squad?

I was stood by the 18 yard box all game and the thing I notice with Halstead is that he is extremely quiet. Macdonald, Covolan and Dorel all used to be constantly marshaling the back four. None of that with Halstead.

For all Macdonald's critics, one thing you could tell was that he desperately wanted t win every football match. Same with Cov. Halstead just seemed to be going through the motions. I got the vibe of someone who signed for us here just to go through the motions and see out the latter years of his career.

One thing I noticed was Joe Lewis went to take a throw in late on when we were all in the Grimsby half. Joe turned around with the ball in his hands expecting Halstead to be on the edge of his box ready to receive the quick throw and then get the ball back up the pitch. But Joe rolled his eyes as Halstead was rooted to the spot showing no urgency and it was too far a throw across his own penalty box for Lewis to risk. So it ended up petering out.

I don't like singling out one player but Halstead does look somy awful. Every cross (not an exaggeration) was striking me with fear. We looked with every cross into our box. Last year Cov was so good and plucking those balls out of the air. Even Macdonald made a valiant effort. Can't recall Halstead coming and claiming one ball yesterday from a cross?

GJ said in his interview that he sees what us fans see. So he must be really furious with Halstead. I thought I saw Marcin warming up shortly before half time. I was half expecting GJ to make the bold move of swapping keepers at half time. He's made subs before half time before.

Grimsby did look a very good side. Particularly their number 18 on the right wing. And Efete seems a real athlete now. They'll be up there.

Starting to think all the talk of 'signing players as good as the ones we've lost' is all just salesman tactics. The team looks bereft of pace, physicality and quality. Our full backs offer zero. These additions look way below par. Need some decent loanees fast!

Whitfield Signs for Stockport County

Personally not that bothered. Pretty sure his bird is from Manchester so no doubt that influenced the move too. Teams worked him out after a while. Bit lightweight and dare I say a little bit selfish on occasion. Would much rather someone with more physical presence. Let's get someone like Oloafe on loan.

Quite surprised Little wasn't released. Wonder if he is one of the players mulling over a new deal. Bet it was only a one-year deal given the injury history.

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

Just watched both disallowed goals back on BT Sport app. What horrendous decisions. First one you literally can't see any infringement in normal speed. In slow mo Lewis braces himself by putting his hands in the lower back of their number 11, who was running alongside Cameron. But it wasn't a push, it was more of when you brace yourself as not to collide with someone. Unless you run towards an opponent now with your hands flat by your sides and just take a hit?!
But the second one - oh my god - the worst decision of the two. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Great leap from Cameron and keeper, who didn't look particularly tall anyway, doesn't get anywhere near it.
The first one I could maybe give the referee the benefit of the doubt but not that second disallowed goal. Such woeful refereeing.

Laterel flow tests

Struggling to see what's causing the anxiety. The code of conduct doesn't say testing is mandatory. It says "if able to do so, order a test.'
It is encouraging people to get a test but not making it compulsory. That's my interpretation of the text anyway.
But I will do a test. I get them posted to me anyway.
I might even take a few kits with me so if some jobsworth insists on a test I will pull myself out of the queue, sit on a step or other suitable flat surface and do lateral flow test there and then. Simples.

Sutton haven't won at Maidenhead since 2013. And Sutton have only beaten Maidenhead once in their last 10 meetings, according to Flashscore. Maidenhead winning seven and two draws. I'm looking for any slight bit of hope....

The sports bar in the old Rainbow Hotel on Belgrave Road have outdoor screens so they might show it. Maybe Molloys as well
