Current squad
I just hope that we can afford to pay all these players that we're signing on permanent deals.

Coca-Cola Cup, Vs Bournemouth
Bit of a long shot, but many years ago [1997 I think] I watched Torquay Vs Bournemouth in the Coca-Cola cup.
The game was won by Bournemouth in extra time and the winning goal scored by an ex premier league player. After a chat with a work colleague today I thought it was Ronny Rosenthal, but having checked the clubs that he played for Bournemouth is not listed as one.
Does anybody on here know who that would have been?

The Clubs Future
I think all clubs across all divisions should finish this season.
Furthermore I think this can be achieved by altering fixtures next season [IE: making next season shorter]
If all division can start the new season no later than September then for the first half of the season games can be played normally. After which a clear line is drawn through all divisions separating the top half from the bottom half. All the teams in the top half of all divisions play each other again and the same with the bottom half.
This would save 10 games in the Premier League and 12 in all other divisions. Therefore clearing the way for subsequent seasons to be started and completed normally.
I do not doubt that this is far from ideal, but if all clubs are aware of what is going to happen prior to the new season being started, that would surely e better than ending this season point blank and leaving so many clubs in limbo.

Torquay United v Ebbsfleet United 25/1/20
Absolutely awful game of "football". We could still be playing now and neither team would have scored. The only highlights were the crossbar challenge at half time and the referee falling on his backside.

Johnson out
I just hope that nobody starts a chant to the tune of "Johnson out" anywhere in the stadium at a home match. I think most of us would feel quite embarrassed given his pedigree as a manager. The interesting thing is, 99% of Torquay fans believe Gary Johnson to be the right man, and when he does turn it around this season or next, the ones that are calling for his head now will still attend Plainmoor and this very forum, feeling very grateful that he didn't get sacked.

Johnson out
We didn't lose to Yeovil because of the referee, we lost because they were much better than us.
I agree we were "sluggish" and made several mistakes, but what I saw is the difference between a team ready to re-enter the football league against a team in a re-building process.
Those saying we're in a relegation battle obviously think they're supporting Chorley, Ebbsfleet, Chesterfield or Fylde - and maybe they are. In terms of points we're one closer to the play off places than we are to the relegation ones. I don't expect us to occupy either come the end of the season.

That sounds more like it. Are they the actual words?

Johnson out
It seems utter poppycock to me, that any person who has the best interests of the club at heart would want Gary Johnson to leave as manager.
In our long history as a football club we have gained promotion and relegation on multiple occasion, but only once have won the league - This under Gary Johnson. It's frustrating to watch the team getting beaten most weeks, but sitting in on Bristows Bench not far from the home dugout, I see GJ as - and sometimes more - frustrated than fans around me.
Any person who follows the club, must be aware of the vast amount of injuries we've had and are continuing to have. We were thumped and Huish Park on Boxing Day and played off the park at Plainmoor on New Years Day - By a team who last year were playing league football, against a team who last season were playing in Conference South.
I for one would be delighted for us to finish the season in a comfortable mid table position, having avoided relegation and created a sustainable platform on which to build next season. It's awful to see the team losing with such regularity, but we as a fan base need to support the club, and the manager.

Hello.
Just registered but a lifelong Torquay fan.
What are the words to the song they sing on the Popside that goes something along the lines of.....
Something, Something, Something,
Over land and sea,
Famous TUFC,
From the West Country.
TIA
