CP Gull wrote: 01 May 2024, 21:22 Totally agree. I would hope that the original poster would reflect and withdraw it.

I don’t know what the “motives” of these posters are but the reality is quite simple ….

Do you want TUFC to still exist? If you don’t then your posts are understandable- if you do, then what exactly do YOU propose as an alternative to this bid? If you are in a position to BUY the club yourselves then fine … just let the administrator know and I’m sure they will consider it …. but if you aren’t, then can I just suggest you STFU - as you are simply embarrassing yourselves.

Put it this way, if you were Michael Westcott and you happened to stumble upon this s**t on a “Torquay fans” forum … could you really blame him if he (and his fellow fans amongst his consortium) decided to pull out? Where exactly would that leave TUFC? I think we all know, so unless you have an “alternative” solution - you are really NOT helping the situation

Hey, perception is reality to those that see. I get that. But all I can say is that perception is only because nobody else from the club has ever bothered to communicate in any way. Therefore the media will naturally knock on the door of the only person who is willing to be honest and transparent. That just happens to be Nick. He is a thoroughly decent bloke who does not court attention but by implication has been thrust into the limelight. The same is true of the other members of the trust team who I know have worked bloody hard for nothing other than to save the club they love.

Ultimately you have to form your own opinion, but some people like Robin Stubbs and his curry house make my blood boil at times. We are supposed to be one unified set of supporters yet there are those who choose to divide.

So very sad.

You two must be such sad individuals to feel the need to spout such nonsense. Have you ever met Nick? The guy has worked his nuts off alongside the TUST team to try and save this club . What the hell have you done?

You should be ashamed of yourselves. An absolute disgrace

If TUST still have to try and raise £150k , how on earth can this be funding in place. Apart from the fact that, at a guess, that sort of sum is nowhere near enough to cover the seasons expenses, even if operating a part time team.
Secondly, who else has put a bid in? No, I've no idea either. Only because any other bidders have followed the confidentiality clause and kept schtum.
Ok.. I will repeat myself for one last time as I am obviously not articulating myself very well.. To a certain extent this is somewhat of a pointless discussion anyway if the TUST / Consortium bid is off the table. But should it come back on again if the preferred bidder decides not to proceed, it is important to clear this up:

1 - Where has anyone said that £150k would be sufficient to cover expenses for the season? Of course it isn't. The £150k was a fundraising proposal to raise capital alongside that being injected by the Consortium in order that TUST had a share in the bid. As long as other funds were being injected then this would provide the necessary assurance with the TUST capital then being raised over the coming weeks. Of course there is no guarantee that funds would have been raised to that extent, but they do have a certain amount of available capital to initially inject anyway and I am sure the "astute" business people preparing the bid will have made provision for this. Let's be honest, for a long time it has not been clear there was anyone else commiting a bid and therefore at least the TUST and the consortium were willing to step up and try to do something. If another bidder with deeper pockets has come along then happy days!

2 - What confidentiality clause are you talking about? Have you seen any of the Non-Disclosure Agreements that may or may not have been signed? Since when has it been a state secret to announce you are bidding to buy something? I am sorry, but I take issue with you over this and feel strongly that you are doubting the intergity of the people behind the bid and TUST. If you are an organisation that has 850+ fans of the club as members who are paying subscriptions then you have to keep them updated. I would want to know where my money is going - wouldn't you?

RobinStubbsHero wrote: 10 Apr 2024, 10:34 Wouldn't have thought it was TUST. For starters they haven't got the money to cover the bond to the League and show they can cover 12 months expenses. Secondly, the leaders of TUST can't keep their mouths shut despite signing confidentiality agreements. That will not sit well with the Administrators I'm sure.
A peculiar statement to make if you don't mind me saying and one that perhaps only serves to mislead fans. Unless of course that is your intention?

Point 1 - Your statements regarding funding / bond to the league - Given the bid was "TUST Led" with a consortium of investors injecting capital alongside TUST, I would hazard a guess that you are factually incorrect. Do you really think a bid would be put into the administrators by a group of astute business people and the TUST Board (not suggesting they are not astute by the way!) unless all the bases were covered. Why would they waste a lot of time and effort if the bid was going to be rejected at the first hurdle. Have you seen a copy of the bid document to verify your assertions?

Point 2 - The leaders of TUST can't keep their mouths shut - I am intrigued for you to back up what you are saying there. What is it that TUST have said that has broken any supposed confidentiality agreements?

Forgive me if I have misunderstood the points you are making, but on the face of it I feel your comments are inaccurate at best and unwarranted at a time when TUST have put their heads above the parapet and have tried to do something positive.

Culmstockgull

Please can I correct you on a factually inaccurate comment you have made above where you have "alleged" that Nick Brodrick has broken an NDA. This information is freely available in the public domain and is no "big secret". You can see it for yourself if you would care to look at Companies House. https://find-and-update.company-informa ... ng-history

Sadly, I'm afraid it is comments like this and misinformation that lead people to form incorrect opinions on TUST. Why you have this view of a team of dedicated supporters of the club is beyond me.

bringbackthecowshed wrote: 22 Feb 2024, 14:20 If Clark Osborne hadn't financed the club all these years there would be no Torquay United.
If TUST hadn't waged a hate war against him he would still be here, I hope they are satisfied now
I am sorry you feel this way, but would suggest politely that you are misinformed.

There has been no war of hate against Mr Osborne. Just because someone is willing to pour money into the club does not mean that supporters should all just be thankful and stay quiet. Clearly the money has to be chanelled in the right direction and the club has to be managed in an efficient manner.

All that TUST have been doing over the past few years is to get some clarity on what the intentions of the owner were to avoid a situation that we now have.

I can't see how anyone can say the ownership regime under Mr Osborne has been a success. Supporters have been isolated throughout and have been consistently kept in the dark which has led us to where we are today both on and off the pitch. To say that TUST will be happy is an unhelpful comment to make. All board members of TUST will now be working 24/7 to do their utmost to try and keep the club alive. This is not something that anyone of them will have wanted.

Now is the time for everyone to come together rather than trying to play the blame game amongst the supporter base.

The best way in the short term is to get behind TUST so we are all singing from the same hymn sheet and we can pool all of our resources whatever they may be.

I for one will give the TUST board as much help as I can

Club Statement - 08/11/2023

The statement from the "club" is entirely predictable and a sad indictment of the divide that has been created between the owner/CEO and the fans. I now believe this to be intentional in the pursuit of the long term goals of the owner. With no communication other than the ridiculous statement issued last night, supporters can only "speculate" on what these goals are.

I feel deeply sorry for Nick Broderick who is an entirley honourable man who on behalf of TUST has worked hard to engage with GE and has been treated disgracefully. For anyone who was at the meeting last night it was very clear he was very hesitant to advocate any form of action which could in any way be illegal or be seen as detrimental to the football club. The whole meeting was recorded so the evidence is there. All the "club" (I am hesitant to say "club", because it is not reflective of TUFC but certain individuals) have done is now advertised this to the wider fan base and by implication (judging by the comments on forums and Twitter) have managed to harness more support for a demonstration.

As supporters we are just calling for communication from the club's hierarchy. You can't expect in this day and age for everyone to just turn up on game day, pay their £20 not to be entertained and continue to do the same again week after week without voicing concern. You either dont turn up (is that what CO/GE want?) or you have to voice your dissatisfaction for what you have purchased.

Last time I looked, we lived in a democracy and being able to voice your disapproval in a law abiding way is not something that CO/GE can prevent us from doing. If the club had organised a fans forum and CO/GE had been man enough to front up to the fan base then this toxic position we now have would not have arisen. Every sensible football supporter understands that running a football club (especially at our level) is a costly exercise and any goodwill that may have still been assigned to CO for keeping the club afloat over the past 5/6 years has to my mind now been lost.

I just don't want my club to go the same way.

Just had Stuart from the club drop by with a TUFC scarf for me and my son and a personal thank you for remaining Season Ticketholders this year.

A really nice thing for the club to do and much appreciated. Well done the club

Well said Pea! Essentially what I was trying to say in the thread I started. If we give up now, how is that going to help. Given our position and what is required would you rather have Hargreaves or Knill in charhe? At least we stand half a chance of fighting for our survival?

Brucie, fair play to you. Despite your sometimes contraversial responses I do respect your opinions and to a large extent agree with a lot of your views. At the end of the day its all about opinions.
Matt, you may be a nice guy, but on here you come across as someone who wilfully dismisses and disrespects the views of anyone who disagrees with you. Its all very easy talking to a computer screen when you know you are right. But a word of advice, if you don't mind. We all supposedly support the same team? Maybe, you could be a little more tolerant to others who have a different opinion. If not, why bother posting?

Thanks Ferrarilover for your anticipated response. As stated in my original post, some of you may shoot me down in flames. Well, I have been put to the matt and brucie firing squad!

Anyway, not to be put off, I'll try again.

The point of the post was to say that despite how bad things appear, we can still make a difference as fans of our club. Lets face it, it looks a tough task. But, if I posted saying we are doomed, we are sh@t,.what is the point?

I have supported this team for the last 36 years and dont intend giv
ing up yet. Whether you deem my post to be entitled correctly or not, I couldn't care to be honest. Why not use this forum as a vehicle of positive support for the team? If not what is the point.
