Me and the wife are heading down/across for this one. Money's been a bit tight recently, but there was no way I was missing this match. Been looking forward to this for weeks.
We've woken up to a bright sunny day here in Southampton so unless there's some completely different localised weather down in Pompey there's no chance of this not going ahead.

Re: Dagenham & Redbridge v Torquay United - 12/3/13
It's pretty depressing stuff at the moment, but in some ways that had spurred me on to try and make it to this game. What with living in London and trying to save like crazy, I just haven't had the spare cash to get to matches. But I just felt like I had to get across and show my support. The team needs it ... whether they deserve or not is another matter!!
Anyway, after I checked my rota, it turns out that I'm working. A little gutted to be honest, but I guess I've probably been saved from spending a small fortune whilst getting even more frustrated and angry about things. My wife puts up with me being a miserable git enough already without our shower of shit compounded matters!!

Re: Alan Knill
I can't believe I stayed awake waiting to see this confirmation. It was already pretty obviously a done deal going by some of the posts on here.
Not excited by this appointment at all, but we needed someone, and I'm happy to give him the opportunity to turn things around for us before I start shooting my mouth off.

Re: Blue Square Premier next season
I have fond memories of the Blue Square Premier seasons as I'm sure a lot of us do. I managed to get to more away games than I normally do and then there were the 2 Wembley visits. Oh and plenty of coverage on Setanta.
Things have changed since then though and I'm pretty certain it wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun a second time around. And I don't think we'd bounce back into League 2 within a relatively short time again either.
There's a little way to go this season yet, so hopefully the new man in charge will be able to make a difference and put an end to this terrible run of form we're experiencing.

Re: Motorcycles,mopeds,scooters . . .
It's great to hear about some of you having fun out there on two wheels.
Personally myself I had a scooter for a couple of years after doing my CBT. It was an Aprilia Mojito (not quite as girly as it sounds!!) and it saved me a fortune on getting back and forward to work compared to a car. Sure there were days when the weather didn't make for a fun ride, but I could still raise a half a smile as I passed by the cars sat bumper to bumper in the rush hour. And sure it takes a bit of getting used to, and has its scary moments, but I still wouldn't hesitate to get one again. In fact I plan to do my full bike licence at some point in the not too distant future.
Anyone ridden a bike/motorbike abroad? We travelled last year and hired one a few times ... India, Laos, Thailand, etc. Oh, and also Cambodia, where I got stopped by the police and could't work with the junctions. No giving way as such, everyone just goes. It almost seemed suicidal!!

Being on nights and not being able to sleep is not good. I've got a feeling tonight is going to be a struggle to get through. At least it's my last one until nearer the end of the week.

Re: After match interviews
Nice to hear some refreshing honesty. You've got to admire that in a manager. With Buckle it became tiresome hearing him come out with the nonsense he did sometimes. In fact it got to the point where I lost complete interest in his appraisals of a match, because sometimes they just wouldn't reflect the truth.

Re: Southampton parking
Ah ... Ocean Village ... the days of JFK, Schooners, The Frog and Frigate and another bar on the front i can't remember the name of. I'm not sure if still all there. If my memory serves me right, most of what became a ghost town of a small shopping arcade got pulled down for flats??
I went to the last Saints game, but can't make this one. Damn well short of cash. The stroll from the ground to station isn't too bad at all. I made it back for my last train for the cup game before, even after extra time and penalties. It was cutting it fine though. I think I might have even had to break into a fast walk at one point to make it.

Re: New kit available for Pre-Order
They definitely look pink. It was one of the first things I noticed. I guess it must have been a flash or crappy lighting. There is the matching goalie top just below the shorts here ...Bigman wrote:Just looking at the kits on the website - the goalie's shorts look rather pink, but even if they're red does that really go with either a green or black top (the 2 goalie options available)?

Not sure why it isn't on the main page with the other goalie tops.
I tried looking back at the Ian Morris pic and it took me a little while to find it. Under 'The Missing Piece' of course!! I definitely prefer the newer colour combiantions.
And although it's not been the most important thing of late ... it's now definitely time to update the pics on the site. The main page still has a pic of Benyon.

Re: Robertson next for transfer list
They can all feck off as far as I'm concerned. Getting slightly more annoyed by the situation day on day. Robertsons far from being outstanding, but decent enough for this level. Could we replace him with someone of equal ability?? Definitely. Will we?? Time will tell. Not that there's realistically a lot of it to play with.
I don't blame any of these players in all honesty. If I was offered more money/better prospects by a boss I'd been happy working under before then I'd certainly be tempted. If it wasn't for the Buckle factor would these players be heading off elsewhere?? I very much doubt it. Ultimately these things happen, but what is more gutting is the fact that we don't seem to be doing good deals.
Right now I want to see Ling coming up with the goods and more players coming on board. Any chance of hearing news on this front before the end of the week?? Or are the fingers still in the pies??!!
