Love to see BOTH teams in the Championship.. or L1 at least!

Re: Jarvo

As luck would have it Im in Walsall Wood on the morning of Sept 9th (Sunday) at the nearby Barons Court so making it to Oak Park would be easy enough to do. I will contact Nick closer to the time

I have seen Jarvis a few times. He isn't fit and doesn't look much like a goalscorere to me. As someone else says he looks average at best which is probably spot on the money. Take that with the Walsall fans opinion of him .

That was our opinion of the lad, Brucie. He never looked like a goalscorer.

Hope Torquay brings him better fortune and he has a better season for The Gulls.

Hope Pompey can start L1 on their -10pts.

Means that my club Walsall won't be bottom for the first month or two, at least!

Pleasure mate. Couldn't believe my good luck when the gates were open in Marnham Road (the groundsman and a young lad were painting them! ) and I asked if I could go in and take a couple of quick snaps.

The Apple And Parrot Pub In Town

Do any of you people go to this place in Torquay and see live bands? Reason Im asking this... as a holiday maker last week I thought I'd go and see Friday nights band. Arrived there about 9.15pm assuming they would be on about 9.30pm ish. The band had clearly done their sound checks and instruments set up etc. Quite a few in there, mainly locals. By about 10.15pm a few getting restless due to the obvious delay. At 10.30pm the band broke into their first number then the pub's manager trots over, disturbing thier excellent opening number and the band then continue and announce that the pub manager said that this can only be their 'sound check' and refused to let them start till 11pm.

As you can imagine this really riled many of the music-loving regulars who had already spent a lot of cash behind the bar. My plans were to have 4 or 5 beers over the course of the evening. In a show of disgust maybe 30 or so locals supped up and left in disgust. By the time 11pm came there was hardly anyone in there. I saw the first couple of numbers and headed for my hotel... not wishing to booze away till 1pm or later with a journey back home the next day. Realise as a holidaymaker my planned £15 or so would be a drop in the ocean but those regular music loving locals would have put a lot more behind the bar than me. When challenged by one of them this manager mumbled something about about the 'regulars' would be in around 11pm. I found this attitude shocking, tbh. He was obviously not bothered that a lot of people were drinking away from probably 8.30pm thinking that the band 'would be on in a bit'. Never once was there any announcements to the effect of a later start.

Realise that as manager he can do what he wants and start bands when he wants but for me it was a massive PR own goal. Does anyone know if 11 pm is the usual Friday night band start or has experienced anything like this before? Thanks for your time.

I have to say it looks a smashing stand and when all the building work is finished Plainmoor will look a neat and tidy ground.

Re: New Signing - Ryan Jarvis --- Merged Thread

Hi Ferrarilover.
Yes been a while since I been on here  Thought when we signed Ryan Jarvis he'd do well for us and the fans were patient with him (to start with) but for whatever reason it never happened for him at Bescot. Another poor season for The Saddlers. Think we only won 9 games all season and drew 20 (club record) Scoring goals was a problem, nobody made double figures. Two seasons of struggle and the fans are hoping for better things next term.

Was hoping Torquay would make it to League One to have played you again.

Re: New Signing - Ryan Jarvis --- Merged Thread

Evening folks. Walsall fan here.

Hope Jarvo does well for you next season. Other than Bournemouth away when he scored both our goals (one a penalty) he was woeful, to be honest. Our manager Dean Smith was Martin Ling's assistant at Orient and Deano kept on saying there is a good player in Jarvo and he will come good. We never saw it. He just faded from the first team scene and it was best for the player and club for him to leave.

You're most welcome, Matt.

He certainly has pace about him, there's no doubt about that. He's still young enough to have a decent FL career.

Sorry to hear this. Always sad to hear of local daily papers ceasing like this. Sign of the times unfortunately and even though you still have it in a weekly version it simply isn't the same.
