Re: Can we do it?

As a Shrews fan, I well remember us being 2-0 down from the Ist leg in last season's play-offs, ( I can't remember who to).
We failed to score early in the return, against a well organised defence, and went out with a whimper.
You may do it, but I fear the odds are stacked against you.
Good luck anyway, and for next season.

Re: Rene 'Thug' Howe

According to Lee Mansell on twitter, "what was done was inexcusable".

Re: League 2: Shrewsbury Town vs Torquay United

I am not here to gloat, just to give an honest opinion from "the other side".
The comment about Arsenal is way off the mark. They included 6 fullinternationals plus guys like Oxlade-Chamberlain who has surely got a big future in the game. The way they celebrated their goals would suggest that they were far from dis-interested.
Some of you seem to forming an opinion on our prospects from seeing us just once, which to be fair. Is all you can do. We looked tired and leggy yesterday, which was to be expected. You could have capitalised on this if you had upped the pace. You played some nice passing football with good ball retention, but it led nowhere.
To say we will not cope with the more physical sides is way off the Mark.
At both Gillingham and Port Vale the home sides tried to bully us yet both teams fans readily admit that they were lucky to escape with narrow defeats.
As for Rene Howe, and yes I am forming an opinion on seeing him just once,he looks like a poor man's Akinfenwa. He could have received. A yellow for the blatant dive, and should certainly should have for continually Berating both the ref and Lino for the next 10 minutes. He was later pulled over by the ref for a foul by the tunnel. which could then have resulted in an early bath.
As for the seasons prospects, our squad is certainly better equiped this time to deal with whatever we come up against, so we would hope to go close. As for Torquay, you look a fair distanced short of last seasons level, but - I have only seen you once.

The Town centre bus station is 3 to 4 minutes walk from the train station. As you come out of the station, walk straight ahead for about 50 yards, to a set of traffic lights. Cross the road and after about 100 yards, pass the Albert pub on your left. The bus station will then appear on your left. Shuttle buses run frequently to the stadium until about 2:15.

Have a safe trip, but remember we owe you one, or two, or several.

Re: 5,000 sold

Shrews fan in peace. We have been to 2 play-off finals in the last 4 years, and off the top of my head, our game against Gillingham in 2009 attracted about 53000 and the game in '07 against the Gas attracted the League 2 record, in excess of 61000. A ground like Molineux, with a 2900 capacity, and just 30 miles away, would have led to a hell of a lot of problems.
You need a 60000 capacity in case a Bradford, Port Vale, Rovers get to the Final. That narrows it down to Old Trafford, the Emirates or Cardiff ( not even in England ).
Unfortunately we are not in the Final this year, but you are, so good luck - I think almost all Shrews fans are rooting for you.

Re: McIlroy

The guy used to play for Telford, so he would probably love that.
Sorry to say that I believe him and Bentley struck up a very close friendship, whilst they were together at Telford, which has no doubt continued at Morecambe.
Would like to wish you good luck on Saturday, but being a Shrew, it's difficult, so here's hoping for a good game and a good advert for League 2 football, for those watching on t.v.
