Re: Rotherham United v Torquay United 13/3/12

Well done the boys tonight on a fantastic win. We are now all dreaming of what might be and when you look at the league we all have to wonder is it going to be another fantastic end to a truly outstanding season. Martin Ling is a legend but not as big as Captain Marvell, if only Buckle had played him there last season instead of right back where might we have ended up. I get frustrated when we only play 1 up front but who am I to question the legend that is Ling he knows what he is doing and goes about his job the correct way.
I just hope that we can continue this run and think that another 5 wins should see us with enough points for automatic promotion.
Lets hope the next home game that all those people that use to support us start to turn up again and experience what could turn out to be a super fantastic promotion season.

Re: Something to celebrate

Matt good post but we got beat by Sheffield Utd mate not Wednesday. I work in Bristol everyday but live in Devon and it makes me chuckle that a small seaside TOWN can take 4 points off a city the size of Bristol. We didn't play as well as we could have Saturday but we still should have been 3 up by halftime if Howe could have finished and Danny not wait until the 11th hour to take a shot. However a point is better than nothing and the league doesn't lie we are better than Rovers by some distance and just look at the money they have spent trying to win or even get into the playoffs and won't get either come the end of season.

Re: New deal for Bobby

Couldn't agree more with the posts on here already, an brillant signing at the start of the season and has got even better as the season has gone on. By far the best keeper in this league and what a breath of fresh air he is on Bevan who didn't know he could come out of his 6 yard box let alone his 18 yard box. His kicking is some of the best I have seen at any level and his ability to distribute the ball early puts us on the front foot that much quicker.
Lingy has done well and I doubted his judgement on some of his choices within the team and no go out and get new players in but eat my words I have and glad to admit it, we are now a team that looks and plays like we should be in a higher league. I would be just that little bit happier if we could just bring in another Striker to complement what we already have.

Re: cheltenham town v torquay united - 14/2/2012

A great result from a great team. We are playing with confidence and shows throughout the team I can't believe we are joint top and if anyone had suggested that at the start of the season I would have been calling for the van with the men with white coats. But you don't get to the top of the league by luck, a lot of hard work has gone in by everyone associated with the club and I can't wait for Saturday and hope that those that don't normally come on a Saturday decide to let the girlfriend/wife go shopping on their own and come and watch the form team in the Country. Can it get any better????????????? Yes 3 points Saturday see you all on Saturday.

Re: guy branston

I agree but it only takes a injury like Saah had and he would be in the same poistion again because the way that Robertson and Ellis were playing he would never of got back in the team. Branston for cover/push Ellis and Saah. If they know he is on the bench then they know every game they have to perform and that makes a big difference if you know you have a decent player sat on the bench waiting to get a chance.

Re: Giving up on Bodin

Bodin done ok for us scored some good goals but would you pay 150K for him, not a chance we could get a very good established player for that sort of money. Have faith Mr Ling knows what he is doing, think back to the start of the season and we were all questioning him but if you had said at the end of January we will be in 6th place and 2 points away from a automatic place at the start of the season everyone would have thought you were mad and would have been calling for the men with white coats. However that is where we are and its down to Mr Ling and Mr Taylor who have worked wonders with the squad and we now all believe.

Re: guy branston

People have short memories, Branston was excellent for us, and just because he has been loaned out by Bradford to Rotherham and now back and surplus to requirements everyone thinks he is a bad player. Not true, he helped both Ellis and Robertson when he played along side both of them and he could more than do a job for us along side Ellis again he is IMO much better than Saah who seems to be a yard to slow and gets caught the wrong side of players and doesn't read the game as well as someone like Branston.
Branston back.........definate YES. :engflag:

Re: Bodin

I agree with what has already been said if we can get Bodin back then that would be a massive plus as he already knows the players and how the team plays under Ling. I thought Robinson was good for us at the time but feel that their could be better around. I still think we are lacking a bit up front and would like to see Lingy bring in a experinced Striker to take some pressure off Howe as the lone striker.

Re: Burton Albion v Torquay

Well not long to go to see the mighty Gulls back in League action and see if they are wearing the dreaded new kit. My season ticket is in the car my money for a drink is in my wallet my shirt is washed and ironed so bring it on SATURDAY and a afternoon at Plainmoor just what Saturadys are all about. I think we will win 3-1 and am really hoping we get a good crowd to get behind the boys and show the new lads how passionate we are about our club if they didn't already know. Any guesses on how many will be in Plainmoor? :keepie:

Re: Best Goalkeeper in league 2?

Bevan is a good shot stopper when he sees them. His kicking is woeful, he never throws it out to his left and right backs and never comes off his line and does not command the area like he should. But Bobby on the other hand has experience of big games lets not forget he has played at Parkhead and Ibrox in sell out games so he is used to pressure. He talks constantly to the back four and the only other keeper recently that I can remember doing that for us was the legend that is Neville Southall. He never kicked one single ball last out of his hands he always looked to give to a avaliable player and build from the back or throw it to just over the half way line. He commands his area well and I have full confidence in him and Martin Ling has done his homework and improved that position for us from last season. :engflag:

Thought that Morris looked quality last night and a lot taller than I thought he was. Gets hold of the ball and is seeing the run of players brilliantly as he did on a couple of occasions last night. Also took his goal well with his not so strong right foot. :keepie:

Re: Who will Buckle take with him?

Here we go again about the bigger club statement. So why are Bristol rovers such a bigger club than us? Is it that they will be moving into a new stadium or is it because they are the small club of the two in Bristol and because that is a city and we are a town then that makes them bigger or is it because Rovers were playing in the league above last season so they must be a bigger club. At the end of the day Buckle has gone and l am glad that he has his tactics we poor to say the least only a plan A and if we go a goal behind he would never change the formation we played. I am looking forward to seeing who the new manger is going to be and can't wait for pre season and see who he decides are the right players to bring in for the good of the team and club. buckle was going to Rovers long before we went to OT for the final and for that he is a disgrace but l hope that when he returns for our home game against Rovers that he gets the reception that he has brought on himself in the way he has acted in this. I believe we will be a better club without him and we more forward better with a manager who is not up his own a.se.

If Sturrock does get the job please let it be written into his contract that he is not allowed to bring his son with him as he is a shocking player and was rubbish when on loan with us in the Conference.

Re: League 2 Playoffs: Shrewsbury Town vs Torquay United

Just got home to Kingsteignton from Shrewsbury and what a night I have lost my voice but well worth it what a great performance from the team I thought Lathrope and O'kane in the middle of the park where excellent in closing down and getting a foot in.
I also thought Robertson had one of his best games for us and Bevs was great coming and collecting the ball. Overall a long day but well worth it now we are in the final and bring on Stevenage next week at the Theatre of Dreams just hope our dreams come true. Come on boys one more big performance is all we ask we know you can do it.
