The return of fans

fred wrote: 23 Nov 2020, 17:56 Didn't expect 3250 to be back in so soon. No chance of 2 meter social distancing with that number. Anyone read the small print. Some kind of test on entry when available? Getting in and out of pinch points like toilet areas will be interesting. Will not get too excited until I'm actually in my seat. Have the club even produced the season tickets yet? I was going to collect mine, not sure if it's waiting for me. Hopefully back for Wrexham but still not convinced!! Is away travel allowed? Still more questions than answers. Will keep an eye on website for updates!!
I've got my season ticket Fred so yes they definitely do exist!

Away travel? I'd be surprised if it's allowed to be honest.

FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round

TUST_Member_Rob wrote: 19 Oct 2020, 16:49 Well as a TUFC fan im sure you'll be donating those to some Sholing fans in light of current restrictions

I dont agree with them at all, fans can be safely managed in open air venues however going against them is not the way to make a stand imo.
Pretty sure they don't have 400 fans so they should all have one anyway. Plus it's not as if SG is travelling up there from Devon is it, he lives there anyway so can't see how it's a problem.

National League - Torquay United v Dover Athletic - 17 October 2020 - 3.00pm kick-off

Not sure why the club would be providing commentary tailored around away fans? It's not like they are going to be coming back again if they like the product is it? This is a TUFC production so should be presented as such, fairly sure MUTV coverage is biased towards the Mancs (and rightly so).

I would have thought that those living abroad would be delighted to get the opportunity to see their side play for once. If you don't like the commentary then just turn it iff, after all you don't get commentary when you're at the game do you?

Isn't the government "bail out" based on lost income? So I guess any payments we receive will take into account money made from the streaming :|

Whydoibother wrote: 02 Oct 2020, 20:52 I was a bit surprised he hasn't had a defensive cover in. Moxey obviously centre half as well but suspended for 3 games and because of Davis out long term will be left back. Hall can cover back there if needed but he hasn't had much of a pre season. With Warren's legs already gone he will only be a sub most of time. Kerr would obviously playing but he is injured. Chuck in Andrews will have to play left back for 3 matches
Johnson's made a habit of surprise last minute signings in his time with us, so maybe there will be a name on the team sheet we don't recognise?

Yes they are (confirmed over the phone).

Apparently every club bar Maidenhead and Solihull have confirmed they will be offering a streaming service.

happytorq wrote: 01 Oct 2020, 19:43 I guess they literally updated things just after I made my comment. Typical. (although I think you have the wrong page - it should be https://torquayunited.com/watch-united- ... port-live/)

had a quick look - £9 a game or £190 for the season, right? That season price is a discount of £8, which isn't a huge amount, so I expect I'm going to just pay my 9 quid for each match that I can watch (living in a different time zone means that midweek games will be tough for me, anyway).

That's not bad.

What would be helpful, if anybody gets time to do it (hopefully I'll time this weekend myself!) will be to see what the situation is at other clubs; naturally this streaming applies to games at Plainmoor only, so I wonder if other teams will be doing something similar.
Stockport are charging £7.50, Wealdstone £9.99, Wrexham £10.

Macclesfield Town have been wound up - owe more than £500,000.

happytorq wrote: 21 Sep 2020, 21:02 Well yeah, but that's a completely different thing.

If Bale has signed a contract for that much money and they're trying to move him out, he is under absolutely no obligation to say "yeah, ok I'll take less money to go away". If any of us were offered a job that paid half as much as what we're getting now, we'd probably not do it unless there is a compelling reason to do so. The scale of the money involved doesn't matter too much.

Definitely a case to be made about the big football clubs not giving a toss about the little ones - the so-called "solidarity payments" are a joke - but that's something entirely different to a guy who's won 4 Champions Leagues (scoring in two finals) expecting his employers to hold up their end of the bargain.
Didn't suggest he should, was just using the figures as a way to point out the huge disparity in finances at the two ends of the pro game.

Macclesfield Town have been wound up - owe more than £500,000.

Macclesfield wound up with debts of £500,000, meanwhile Gareth Bale's proposed transfer is delayed by his reluctance to take a cut in his £600,000 per week wages....

Cameron played left back at Yeovil on Boxing Day. To judge his suitability for the role one only needs to look at the scoreline from that game...

They signed Paul McCallum from Solihull which must have cost a few bob. They've got some wealthy American backers I think

Lee Johnson Sacked

Let's not forget that Gary was a highly succesful manager long before Lee ever went into managment, so I am sure he can cope if we are no longer first on the list for Bristol City youngsters.

Guess they wanted to limit any chance of injury for the previous 10 months as well?

Not denying your sources accuracy as regards his signing for us, but he has been nowhere near their squad for the entire season so the notion that he was only left out at Wembley to protect him before a move to Plainmoor is clearly nonsense.

Whether he has signed for us or not it had absolutely nothing to do with why he didn't play at Wembley. The fact that he only played 1 minute of league football for them last season (and that was in the first match back in August) would suggest he wasn't anywhere near being in their side.

The end of the season.

culmstockgull wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 13:23
For Torquay who have no money, no separate fiancé stream, next season when ever that starts will be very different to the last, a good percentage of our team will be youth players whether they are ready or good enough because that will be the reality of football at our level going forward, I do not believe we will be disadvantaged because the majority of not all of teams in out league will be in the same position.
If all the other teams are in the same position then why would we have to rely on youth players? If no other teams can offer big wages then all the players at this level will have to accept less, therefore we would have the same calibre of player just on lower salaries.
