Ooh, ooh, just got 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Hurdley race thing at Cheltenham - should I back us to win?
No point wasting your winnings.westbaygull wrote:Ooh, ooh, just got 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Hurdley race thing at Cheltenham - should I back us to win?
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...
I backed us to win! Had us to win, and draws at City and Argyle. Oh so close..

I do seem to have pissed a few of you fellow fans off by publicly stating I backed us to get relegated. The bet/wager what ever you call it was done because I predicted an outcome long before the bookmakers did, based on what I knew was coming based on our inept performances. I do not want Torquay to be relegated, but if they do my opinion was lets get something out of it. Am I the first to bet against a team losing etc... I think not otherwise we would not have match fixing etc. My point is I love the club and have already spent a few hundred this season alone. I was born and breed in Liverpool for 30 years, so why not support Liverpool. No chance I hate the premiership, Torquay is my club and that is that. Paul dobson is the reason I support Torquay and the rest is history. To have fellow fan(s) making abusive/personal comments today is not good. The forum is there for discussion and critisism but if your going to publicly call me, please e-mail me and I will meet up with you one and one. I am going Burton and Morecambe(hopefully securing our league survival), like we did when Wayne darby scored ar Carlsisle in our 1-0, yes I was their and many others, chris myers scoring the winner at Doncaster when 2-0 down to make it 3-2, still got astro turf from preston...etc etc . I AM A TUFC FAN AND COYY

Bad news Lucy, the highlighted statement above is a guarantee that you won't win and Torquay will stay up.
Whilst i don't usually bet on my team to lose and i certainly wouldn't bet on them to get relegated, if we play a team which i have strong feelings will win and they are a cracking price then i have no qualms about backing them. It does feel weird but i don't do it that often, i've only done it once this season when we beat Gills. Can't even f*cking get that right!
Like Bix says, don't worry about it but thanks for the personal apology. They're great aren't they? I make at least one a month.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

can i ask why paul dobson is the reason you support torquay. is it to do with the important goals he scored especially v crewe 2-2 last day 87 great escape - 87-88 near promotion.lucy6lucy wrote:I do seem to have pissed a few of you fellow fans off by publicly stating I backed us to get relegated. that crewe game was my first ever match. gutted when he left. or do you know him personally.
anyway dont worry too much about the bet thing. if we stay up and you lose your money, ah never mind at least we stayed up, thats more important. if we go down at least you have some very small consolation. will you feel guilty when you collect your winnings if the worst happens though.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

TUFC never fails to let its fanbase down.

I personally couldn't back against my team losing regardless of whether I was 99.9% sure it would happen, never have and never will!!

Oh good, I love threatening posts, it always means the poster is soft as shit. I'll be at Burton and I'm perfectly happy to be rude to you in person. It's not really too much to do with backing us to go down, although that is a pretty scummy thing to do, it's more the incessant nonsense on here about how we're the worst side ever to kick a ball and that the players should be ashamed. Griping is fine, giving up is not acceptable. We've been in far worse positions before and we'll be in far worse positions in the future, the key is to keep pulling together until it's impossible to survive, not to offer a battering to the club at the very time it needs you most.lucy6lucy wrote:I do seem to have pissed a few of you fellow fans off by publicly stating I backed us to get relegated. Putting a bet against the team you support is not a scummy thing to do. Betting on a game has zero impact on the outcome whatsoever.
