Oh and another thing, warn Chunky there's a Mercedes driver travelling through Devon tomorrow so he'd better get his Reliant Robin out of my way :lol:
its a hyundai getz actually (not that theres much difference). :)

i have learnt to know my place and indeed move out of the way when the far superior mercedes driver wishes to go through instead of me. :bow: after all they are much more important than the common folk like myself. :}

their need must be greater than mine and they must be far too busy and have much more important things to spend their time doing than to wait a frightfully boring 10 seconds to allow an insignificant peasant like myself to pass through. :no:
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

I've heard it all now, Formula 1 driver gets told off for overtaking another driver. Err, isn't that what it's all about? As it is now, F1 is for people to watch who have limited tv channels and are confined to the settee recovering from illness or people who have nothing going on upstairs who will longingly gaze at the screen watching cars going round and round and round and round and round and round and round and nothing ever happening apart from cars following each other going round and round and round and round and round. Soon as something remotely interesting happens then all hell breaks loose!! Frig me, i thought sport couldn't get any more pointless and as boring as snooker but it just has.

I think the most appropriate song to accompany the F1 coverage should be by Del Amitri where they burn down the synagogues at six o clock and we all sing along like before, cos Nothing EVER HAPPENS, NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL , coz i'm watching F1 today but it is no shock as i knew that my brain was so small.............................

Andy, F1 is only berated by those whose brain cell can't fathom out the intricacies of one of the sporting worlds finest showcase events. People who understand the sport have no problem with the notion that a team with two drivers can issue orders for them to remain in formation until the end of the race. It's about teams winning the Championship, the drivers championship always comes secondary to the Constructors Championship. If you think it's a sport where nothing ever happens then you're even more deluded than some of your posts make you appear :)

Dave, genuine question regarding F1 as I do watch it every now and then.

Last season when Massa was told to let Alonso pass him that was a huge controversy and against the rules I believe?

But it is within the rules to tell a driver NOT to pass another?

Genuine question...

They changed the rules so that teams can order drivers to either let another pass or to stay behind. I would prefer for drivers to race each other but for the teams who invest millions they obviously would prefer their drivers not to run the risk of a collision with each other and score points in the constructors championship which lead to big slices of prizemoney and also sponsorship bonuses.

F1 was becoming dull as a spectator sport but the introduction of the new Pirelli tyres which can wear out so quickly has revitalised it IMHO. No longer can it be said that the first car to the first corner will win the race, strategy and tyre preservation are key to winning the race now and it's made it much more exciting to watch.

Cheers Dave and I completely agree.

For some reason F1 still appears to get bad press but it is actually exciting and the introduction of DRS and Kers (?) has helped with that. Strategy is also hugely important, as you say. However I'm not sure why they ditched the whole 'refuelling' aspect of the race. I thought it was much better when that had to be worked into race strategies as well. Sometimes you'd end up with someone with an almost empty tank further back in the field and they fight their way up the grid so they could maintain a position after they pit. I'm sure there's some simple reason as to why they scrapped that part but I found it enjoyable.

It's just cars going round a track, if you're both really into that then as well as watching the races on telly you could also buy a scalextric for when you get withdrawal symptoms. :) :lol: :na:
