There were about a dozen kids from Plymouth at the York game and they sang songs until we took the lead then went quiet and eventually left the ground at half time when they casually walked out. At no time did any stewards attempt to march them out.

The Rovers fans will come in numbers and will be in groups too big for the stewards to handle. Don't kid yourself that the stewards will want to get involved.

If I was Alan Knill, I would take Rene to one side and say I not worried if you get booked, tell him to get fired up and do what he does best, if he gets a yellow so be it, we have to win.

On a side note , agree with Lloyder5 , that match was not about the kids in the middle, during those last 20 minutes against York all 3 sides of the ground were singing, that wasa top effort by all.
Agree Dave. He's been walking a tightrope and it's definitely taken an edge off his game. But it's crunch time now. We need his best, so the shackles have to be released.

Cruise came in for a spent Nico, got sent off and then Nico comes back in and then when Cruise is available again he keeps Nico in who was at fault for the goal. Cruise should be in it's a no brainer. Nico is a legend but his time is up.

MacDonald comes in for Downes when Aaron got sent off and then when Downes is available again he keeps MacDonald in who was at fault for Northamptons goal. Downes should have been in for that game it was a no brainer. MacDonald has done really well but we needed the 2nd best player in the whole squad (imo) on that night and Knill left him out.

There are 2 points there that have gone.

Plus, Jarvis is the only one other than Howe (and Labadie who has now gone ) who has scored more than once in the last 10 games and yet he is on the bench today. Benyon is the only other player to score a goal in the last 10 games yet he starts on the bench. It really brings home what an impact Joss had during his short time here and how i do not think we can recover. If Howe doesn't score then without Jarvis, Benyon or Yeoman on the pitch then nobody is going to unless Downes bullets one in from a corner.
I don't have to say it's a serious worry as that time has passed, it is not going to change unless Knill makes some brave attacking decisions and i can't see him doing that so we're heading out of the league IMO.

We are putting all our hopes and faith in one man who clearly doesn't care anymore and only has 3 games left as a Gull. Oh dear.

Did you happen to catch Downes' performance against Oxford? Shambolic does not begin to describe it. For that reason alone, it wasn't a 'no-brainer' to bring him straight back.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I think you will struggle to find a single person who advocated dropping Angus before that game, so hardly a no-brainer.

Fair play Fonda, your correct, he was also at fault for the two recent penalties,,, because he was commited, but did you see him against Bristol Rovers ? I know we lost but he was commited then and scored a great goal, true leader that day, how much would I like him to repeat that performance against his former club someime soon.

Second highest scorer this season, like his attitude, more than happy to see him here next season.

Crack on Aaron, Torquay need you more now than ever club has ever needed you !!!

Another 1-0 defeat our 5th in the last 16 games. Our record in 2013 is 3wins 4 draws and 13 defeats.
If we can somehow beat Barnet next saturday I still think we can escape.
I think it is now the Shots, York and United and I think we may just survive possibly on goal difference!
I am over for the Rovers match. It is going to go to the wire that is for sure.
We the fans have somehow got to inspire the team. If you are a professional sportsman you always remember the type of games coming up namely Barnet and Rovers. If to a man we get behind the team two home wins will save our skin. We can do it.

He's done pretty well for us overall in my opinion, and I'd be happy to see him extend his stay. But I wouldn't lose any sleep if he decided his future lay elsewhere.

Having said that, I'm not sure how many of our current squad I'd be particularly sad to lose!

Couldn't be more depressed really. Our mini revival of two home wins has fizzled out and we have reverted to type. Losing three games on the bounce has more or less finished it. We did as well as we could have been expected to really I suppose but those who are seeing todays 1-0 defeat as a moral victory are raving bonkers.
Scott - saying you are happy with a 1-0 defeat is nonsense.
Quite suprised with our team selection today - Benyon was knackered for the Bradford game but suprised that Knill did not go with him and Howe up front.
Those calling for Cruise to play as though he is some kind of god are mad - he is comfortable on the ball but he is equally as bad at defending as Nicholson.
After Bradford Knill said that we could win all our last four games. Tonight he was saying that he wouldn't be suprised if we won our last three.
I honestly cannot see us getting another point.
The players are not good enough/don't have the right mental attitude/blah/blah/blah - we just cannot win games - we havn't a clue.
The division is crap - pure and simple. Exeter are in the play off places - and they are basically awful. That just about sums it up.
SO its shit or bust next Saturday. Win or its goodnight vienna. We face the mighty Barnet who are probably nearly as crap as we are. Will we win - I seriously doubt it. We will probably lose again.

Portugull - sorry but there is NOT a single thing that the supporters can do. Its down to the players and they are proving that they are not up to the task.

Everybody be cool. We were alright today, we deserved a draw against the Champions elect and we came closer to scoring on four occasions than they did all afternoon (aside from their dreadfully jammy goal). Ricey made a couple of decent stops, but he wasn't the difference by any stretch. As so often this season, we didn't get what we deserved. Nico needs to be dropped for Cruise and maybe Lathrope out for Craig in, but that's optional. If we play that well against Barnet and we'll win.
It's not a good situation, but the team are doing their bit, we just need Lady Luck to join the party.

Matt.

Just got back, another long, expensive, pointless, goalless day out, it is heart-breaking, but we soldier on.

We played well in spells today, and had we shown any of that ingenuity against Bradford we may have had a little more to show for our endeavours than that abject surrender. Sadly though it is irrelevant how well we play, and how well we match good teams such as Northampton and Gillingham, ultimately we lost both and have no points to show for it.

As previously stated the luck is just not with us at all, Howe's shot trickles agonisingly off the post and away from goal, any other deflection and Bodin has the easiest tap in of the year. Nicho's thunderbolt free-kick hits the bar and comes back into play, another day it nestles in the net. A pretty clear penalty claim once again turned on. Same old story.

Ricey did well, him keeping the score down could be pivotal as our goal difference might still play an important part in proceedings. Shot stopping is something you can improve and get good at, as stated in the week though it does take weeks of consecutive matches to build confidence in dominating your area and building a trusting relationship with his back line, he simply does not have that, nor the time to develop it.

Good to see Morris back in the team, thought he was the most effective of our midfield 3, his added height proving useful and he showed no real signs of rustiness.

We are startling poor out wide, both full-backs got skinned time and time again, whilst our final delivery in promising areas ranges from non-existent to underwhelming. The majority of our best sequences where created when we tried to play it through Gillingham, perhaps this could be where Morris will thrive. Bodin and Chappell largely anonymous once more I am afraid.

Bringing Jarvis and Benyon on didn't really make any difference, as soon as we conceded you could see all confidence drain out of the team, it did not look likely at any point that we would equalise, whilst Gillingham themselves were going through the motions, perhaps both teams settled for 1-0.

Still, at no point was anyone expecting anything from this game, so we should not be moaning about the outcome. If anything I am heartened by the way we acquitted ourselves in the first half and we can hope the same sort of play could unlock a desperately poor Barnet team, and two teams in Morecambe and Gas who we can hope turn up in sun hats and flip flops.

Quite simply next week's match is must win. I don't care how. Just win it. As my war cry I would suggest that any reservations we have about certain players, about formations, about ill managers or insouciant board members we quite simply leave behind for three weeks and instead focus on getting behind each and every one of our playing and coach members for every minute of our three remaining league matches. The inquest (and it will be a brutal one) can start the moment the final whistle is blown against Rovers, until then only positive support is needed, any negativity is entirely counter productive.

As a final note, I notice that Martin Allen has copped a bit of stick on here today. I didn't hear his interview on talksh**e but I don't think his comments were entirely without merit. In his defence he showed excellent class at the final whistle, in what should have been his moment of glory he stood by the tunnel and shook every Torquay player and coach by the hand, and then turned to applaud the remaining Torquay fans, most of whom reciprocated. Some people might suggest he was milking the moment, but in my view it would have been all to easy to say 'sod this' and go and celebrate with his fans and players. Instead he could see we, as a club, were hurting and he showed us a little bit of respect because he has been there too. Just a little thing that impressed me.

Brucie.

I said I would take a 1-0 win given that fact that almost everybody on here was adamant that we would get hammered 3,4 or 5 nil.
You said this on another thread about our game today:
brucie wrote:I have given up as well - Rice in goal. No chance. I fear it could be 6-0 on saturday.
We didn't - we lost by one goal, and made a game of it for at least 45 mins, maybe more.

That's why we should take heart.

I'm not giving up until it's completely over (one way or another) - if that makes me an idiot then so be it. Until it is either impossible for us to go down, or impossible for us to stay up, I will keep on believing. Ok, I'm sheltered over here from the performances and don't get to see as many as I would like to (but then having to take Friday and Monday off work to get the cheapest possible deal means that I often can't make it), but we as fans have to keep believing - the performances may be dire, but we are getting there - we held the champions to just one goal with, and I'm going to sound harsh here, a player keeping goal who has no right to really be in a league two team.

That is why I'm believing!!

Chatted to A Garg supporter in the pub tonight who is embarrassed by the "debt" actions which again proves my point about clubs financial viability . We are suffering by paying our way but clubs such as Plymouth Exeter Bournemouth Portsmouth etc etc carry on as if nothing has happened. Football is a JOKE
