As I Posted on another thread, we already know that some Rovers fans have bought up tickets in Home areas. I got shot down in flames when I said that the Ticket Office girls told me that any away fans shouting in Home areas or wearing Away colours would be escorted out; others on here thought that we wouldn't be able to do that. We might have extra security or extra cops coming; I don't know, I'm only being the messenger! For Argyle v Exeter, they had extra mounted police coming down from Bristol & South Wales, according to Radio Devon. If people want to queue for tickets on the day & they're not wearing identifying colours, who's to know who they support? Incidentally, some posters have been knocking almost everybody at the Club, including the Ticket Office; never had any problems there myself, either at Matchday Office or Reception. And yes, my Exeter - City supporting daughter has sat with me quite often on Bristow's Bench & there's never been any problems! (I can't help it, I just failed somewhere with her education I suppose! Growing up in East Devon is something to do with her affliction, I imagine!)

A very good friend of mine lives right here in Newton Abbot, from Bristol and a mad gashead, he still today talks with a broad Bristol accent, every time Rovers are away to Torquay he goes to plainmoor buys a ticket and stands on the popside, he does not wear his colours and a long with his wife keeps himself to his self.

If Rovers fans come down enter the home ends and don't start singing endless chorus of goodnight irene no one is going to have a problem, oh NHSgas I think I have just given you a big clue.

Thanks for the replys folks, i have been in with your fans before and not had problems but not in a game like this where there maybe a big outcome on the match, folks on our forum have said the game is all ticket , as far as i know some rovers fans have taken up corporate hospitality and a few managed to buy tickets when they were briefly available on line , as i said in my OP i will be at my most discreet as i understand its possibly a huge game for you and if i thought i was taken a torquay fans chance of a ticket id give my ticket up head to the union and watch the scores roll in on soccer saturday...
anyway if any of you hear that its def all ticket please let me know via here, im all booked up for the fri to sunday , one hotel is even offering special 'Bristol Rovers deal' and offering to get torquay end tickets according to some on our forum.. hope we scrape into the play offs at Exeters expense , you stay up and a good game takes place with no bother! my only fear is if Rovers pull of the unlikely and need a win in the game at plainmoor we could have thousands down there , we took 3000 to blackpool and 3000 to hartlepool not so long ago in these types of games

I can remember being donuted by Rovers fans on the Pop. They went 1 up and we ended up winning 2-1 (Gritts winner). Not one jot of trouble, loads of banter but an all round excellent experience.

No need to worry - your currently 2-0 down to Bradford so dream on about the play offs. Who actually cares how many fans you took to Hartlepool. You are NOT a big club - if you want to know if its all ticket just ring the club up - its not hard is it.

tickets for stands got to be brought from office before, terraces pay on the gate... & to Brucie ...i tried to call today but on 5 occasions got no reply...and i never said we are a big club... for big games we can take big away crowds thats not bragging or anything its a fact... calm down fella!

Chunky i like the enthusiasm mate and SNW, you can read a Churchillian 'we will fight them' speech on my Barnet thread mate but it's a little different.

I don't see what all the fuss is about to be honest. I only have one issue which could turn out fine anyway so here goes.

If i was going ( or thinking of going ) to this game then i'd make sure i bought my ticket as far in advance as i could. That way i will guarantee my place and if i don't end up going then the club still gets £17 and it's a gamble lost. Why the f*ck do people wait until the last minute and then moan?! If you want to go then get a ticket early doors and sit back and have a cuppa, what's the issue here? If you want to turn up at 2.55pm on the day of the game and it is full then tough sh*t. The Rovers fans may as well fill up our ground coz we sure as hell aren't gonna do it!

Let Rovers fans in the home ends by all means but if they aren't discreet or celebrate or laugh at us if we go down then these people are complete w*nkers and should be escorted outside and given a good mullering. These people will have no brain cells and therefore have no neurons leading to pain receptors so therefore won't feel a thing so we could have a grand old time. That is my only issue with this. By all means come Gasheads but just be f*cking normal.

right put it this way,how would rovers fans feel if they had a big game with promotion or relegation riding on it and fans from another club with a bigger support or just thought they were big time charlies decided oh well we're going to the game coz we want to, doesnt matter, its only bristol rovers, they've sold out the away end but we're all gonna go anyway coz we can.we'll just go in their end.

imagine if just because they are nearby, bristol city, yeovil or swindon decided to do that and just turned up and thought we'll just take over the home end. its disrespectful.Its bloody arrogant.

there are reasons for when clubs etc say to away fans- if you dont have tickets, dont travel.

i remember working with a complete d!ckhead who supported bristol city. we had just gone up to league 1 under leroy. he was on about city all the time. made my bloody year getting a draw at ashton gate. when it came to the home fixture he was on and on and about going to the game. i knew the away end was sold out so did he. he got himself home end tickets, then bragged how he was going to plainmoor every few days and buying loads of tickets for family, friends and friends of family. b@stard arrogant. i bumped into him outside the pop and there were about 40 of them. tickets had sold out. how many torquay fans missed out?

i kept saying to the guy its our home game, you've had yours, this is ours.F*** off.
why do fans of these clubs think they are big sh!ts and think ah well its only torquay we'll just go on down there and take over and go in their end.

i couldnt care less if our parts of the ground are half empty, away fans should have a bit more respect and stick to the boundaries of the away end. if it is full then, dont bother. its our club, our home game, our end of the ground, simple as that.

admittedly 1 or 2 is not so bad , such as the family member situation or the odd exile living here, if they are respectful.i have met many fans in the home end who i have been ok with. never have i been involved in any trouble at games or even had a row with an away fan or at anyone elses ground. bearing in mind we have had some right knobs come in our home end as well.

the problem i have with it is when masses and groups of them know the away end is sold out and they all get together and decide they are all coming anyway. f***ing arrogant.

I just don't see this, Chunk. I just don't care if it's "our" home game, visiting supporters are welcome, provided they aren't taking space which would otherwise be utilised by home fans (which I REALLY don't think they will) then they might as well be there. They're not hurting anyone, no one will suffer, the club will get more cash and some people from Bristol who probably don't kick puppies or sit in the old people seats on the bus get to have a nice day out.

It's a terribly passionate argument you make (so passionate you forgot where the Shift key was :whip: ), but I'm just not that bothered if some Rovers fan wants to make my club richer and have a nice time with it. I'd rather he was doing that than, say, mugging my Nan of her pension money.

I agree with Matt. People, whichever team they support, should be allowed to watch from any part of the ground. Keep a few areas for diehards of each side who want to stay together to shout and sing. Otherwise let everyone intermingle, enjoy some good banter and friendly discussion and enjoy the game together. Let the crowd and stewards deal with anyone who behaves badly or uses foul language. Simple.

Years ago in my youth, fans of opposing teams intermingled throughout the ground, with no problems at all. These days it seems that stewards, officials and the authorities, neurotic about health and safety, would have us silent and docile and herded around like sheep..

I don't know about what other sports matches you go to, But to say the egg throwing fraternity don't cause trouble is way off the mark.
Both Bath. Bristol and Gloucester have had some trouble in the last few years. It may not have been directly inside the stadium but I have seen the aftermath of fights from drunk fuelled yoofs who couldn't take their drink outside pubs, even among themselves. Even the Posh Cheltenham races have had trouble.
The main railway line was closed for nearly an hour after the Gold Cup race as fans rioted on the station after getting totaly tanked. is this the family orientated sports your thinking of.
Or Bath fans invading the M4 services and damaging the car park stree lamps for fun because they couldn't think of anything better to do. I was there too. Not a nice thing to have to cope with. not easy to stay out of the way either when they are intent to chasing all and sundry for their fun.
I don't think football has half the problems it used to have, and if we all grew up a bit and acted like adults instead of throwing insults there would be no trouble.
I would just love it if we could finish the match and finish off the event with Rovers and Gulls fans doing a huge conga right around the stadium. now that would be a sight worth watching.
