A special mention for Bart
Thought I'd pay tribute to the fellow I met at Gillingham, Bart.
Lives in California, had dragged himself and long suffering girlfriend (I presume) over on the red-eye to be at the game on Saturday. Lovely chap, if depressingly American, came all that way and arrived 20 minutes late. Must have been devastating.
Anyone else got any first hand bonkers supporter stories.
Matt.
Should probably mention Chris Thackery, who stands with me on occasion. International jetsetter extraordinnaire, Chris is a VIP with a very large company and is based mainly in the States. Lovely chap, lovely (and very pretty) wife and committed Gull, what's not to like?

Arrived at Priestfield with about half hour to spare on Saturday, so nipped into the pub by the away end for a quick sherbert before the game. Got talking to a Gills fan who had travelled over from Perth - no not the Scottish one! ... he'd arrived the day before, stayed with family/friends in Ramsgate, came up for the game on Saturday... then was flying from Luton to Ireland straight after the game and then said he'll be back over to England for the remaining Gills games before heading off back down under.... now THAT'S commitment!
... my trip to Workington back in the 70s seems like a trip to the local shops!

Hello,
I was at the Gillingham game this past Saturday and met some great fans. It was my one game this year and I wanted to reconnect with the Gulls fans I met last Saturday. Are any of you on here?
Bart

Bart, brother, I made a thread just for you, it'll be a little further down. I'm sure given 24 hours, Admin will merge the two.
What was the name of the place you said you live?

America i think?
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Well, given that YOU said in the OP he was from California, and that the thread HE started states "Gillingham Game - Out from California", my statement "California I'm guessing" can't be wrong, unless you and he (unlikely) were both wrong too.ferrarilover wrote:You're both wrong.

I asked Bart where he said he was from. What he said was the name of the area in the town in which he lived. It was part of a conversation. So, for all your funny, funny retorts, you are, as usual, wrong. :na:

Hey guys,
It was great meeting you at the game last Saturday! That was a pretty accurate description that you had. I pretty much came straight from Heathrow to the game..... Got wrong directions from the Gills guards outside the stadium but made it.
I live in Rancho Palos Verdes. I almost stayed and flew back to Los Angeles tomorrow so I could catch the game today at Plainmoor but now am glad I didn't.
Warm Regards,
Bart

Hi Bart It was really good to meet you at Preistfield. I am still amazed that you made the trip over from LA, basically just to catch the game. I'm only sorry that the boys could not reward you with 3 points, or even a goal to cheer, but that's the nature of the game I guess.
Any chance you could send, across the pond, a bit of decent weather? We sure could have done with some warm sunshine today!
Hope to catch up with you again soon. Be sure to let us know next time you "pop" over.
Christine (With Matt, Den & Pete at the game)

Hi To Bart
Yes I had the honour to meet you and your lovely lady at Priestfield. I am the guy who sat in front of you that you recognised from the TUFC website.
You are a true fan just hoping on to and off of a big bird to watch the Gulls
Good to know you.

I once hopped off and on a big bird just to get my taxi fare home. *shudder*
