I think Cooper's problem was that he was just too versatile - we needed an out-and-out Centre Half, and although Cooper could "do a job" he wasn't quite what we were looking for. He probably didn't come cheap either having spent much of his career in L1, so as Fonda says it was probably just too much to spend on a jack of all trades.
Hopefully the Pearce deal can be closed out, sounds like a real physical presence and of a good age as well.
With regards to the trial of Deaman, I suppose he will have to really show something special to get a deal with us as we already have Hutchings and McKenzie to act as cover.
Oh come on Teeboo as much as the suspense killed me getting clues and playing the guessing game was better than nothing so come on give us some clues about the striker!

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
I remember Akinde for absolutely destroying us at Wembley for Ebbsfleet, was a great performance. Seems to have lost his way since then though. He's the sort of player I'd welcome, but would represent something of a gamble.
Going back to the potential signing of Pearce, it's another left-field signing. Who said Knill doesn't have contacts? I get the distinct feeling that Knill has acquired players he has earmarked and fit his vision, rather than taking the easy option of plundering our near-neighbours released lists and should be commended for doing so.
