www.footballshirtculture.com are great for the whole 'culture' around team kits. This year seems especially bad for template kits from Adidas. It seems the 'cheaper' lesser known companies will sometimes produce bespoke kits, although often over detailed with unnecessary swishes and panelling etc but we have been blessed with some reasonable kits since Vandanel took over, a particular favourite being the blue away shirt which white colours and yellow trim from around 2006-2008.
However, because this kit, other than the collar, is almost an exact replica of 1991-93 and 1999-2001 versions, it was easy to get transported back in time and see the likes of West Saunders and Chris Curran etc, playing.
I know it is a long way off, but we cold stay with stripes and just rework aspects of it when this kit is due a change. It does not have to be that when we have yellow and white stripes it has to be exactly the same as 1991.
The irony in this however, is that while we have a bespoke kit, the 1991 original was not bespoke and was a template by Matchwinner. Exeter had a red and white version, Notts County a black and white version (and indeed, our purple away shirt, other than badge and sponsor, was identical to the Notts County away at the time)
