Hall of Fame
Hi Everyone.
Iv just started posting on this site but have been reading it for quite a while now. If this has already been done then apologies, but after talking about Nicho on another thread i said that he would absolutely get into my Hall of Fame. That then got me thinking, if we had such a thing, who would make it into yours? Lets say your top ten in no particular order.
My support has spanned the last 12 years so apologies for any glaring omissions prior to this.
1. Hill
2. Hargreaves
3. Sills
4. Hockley
5. Woods
6. Nicholson
7. Mansell
8. Russell
9. Fowler
10. Bedeau

I'm going to turn this into a game (eventually), so if everyone can kindly submit their nominations, I'd be pleased. If you could also nominate a position for your chosen player(s), it'll save me some time. You can include managers.
There are some who have the talent to be in there, but don't qualify for other reasons. Bobby, for example, doesn't get a nod simply because he wasn't here for long enough.
For my money, Eunan has to be on the list. I'm also going to nominate Buster Phillips.
Eunan (central midfield)
Buster Phillips (right wing)
Matt.

Good call ferrarilover.
Anyone who has a significantly beneficial impact for whatever reason... Maybe it can be an idea for Mr Candy!
I know i might sound crazy, but i did like Sako a hell of a lot too! Maybe not quite ready to put him in there yet...

Wherever "there" is, he wouldn't fit.

How long back are you going for this hall of fame.
If it's all time then you have to include Sammy Collins. Robin Stubbs. Terry Adlington. Don Mills.Tommy Northcott. Ron Shaw and Dennis Lewis. Ian Twitchen. All Four of those guys had well over 400 games under thier belt for United. Eric Webber. Colin Bettany. Ernie Pymm. John Benson. Juhn Bond who went on to manage several other big clubs. Tommy Mitchinson. Les lawrence.Derek Dawkins. Kenny Alen. MArk Loram. Tom Kelly. Jin McNichol. Our very own Dean Edwards. Paul Holmes. Sean Joyce. Now managing Bideford. Matt Elliot. Paull Hall. Chris Curran. Gareth Howels. Darren Moore. Our very Own Robbie Harrera. Paul Trollope. As a player. Wayne Thomas. Who by the way is now playing in Greece. And does the ball ever skid on that surface. Alex Watson. Kevin Deardon. Craig Taylor. Martin Gritton. Joe Kuffour. Oh how I wish he would come back. Steve Woods. Alex Russel. David Graham. Kevin Hill. Captain Marvell. Lee Mansell. he may be suffering an odd off period but he has been stalwart in midfield for years. and always does his best. Jason Fowler.
I won't go any further as I believe most of you will name the rest of the modern players.
There may well be a few more I have missed. But you will no doubt come up with them.
I think a plaque with each name sponsored by a supporter would be a good idea. what about it Mr Candy. I will put myself down for sponsoring Robin Stubbs and Terry Adlington.

As far back as you like Glostergull. I think it would be a fine way to remember those who have really endeared themselves to us. I have only a limited knowledge of those greats that you mention as i never saw the majority of them play. I like the way you think about sponsoring them too. Maybe this idea could have some legs!
I think there would have to be a general consensus so as not to become overcrowded as it were, but i think this would be reasonably easy to do. Maybe i should limit my list a little...
Hill
Sills
Russell
Hockley
Hargreaves
Nicholson

Mr. Glostergull is right; I would also join him in sponsoring Robin Stubbs. Mr. Glostergull named nearly all the players I would have named (up to 1972) but there is one startling omission - John Smith (in my opinion second only to Robin in TUFC greatness). I also must admit that, coming to Torquay in 1963, I never saw the earlier greats (Collins, Mills etc).

It's great to see aĺl these names from across the decades! How about John Impey and Wes Saunders. Mike Mahoney for me our best ever keeper a delight to meet him at Plainmoor last season.Pat Kruse sadly holds the record for fastest own goal but what a player! Steve Morrell our own Steve Heighway a flying winger.
Great names, great shout on Scott Colcombe. As a previous poster said, there are many names of yesteryear that I am unfamiliar with, apart from Robin Stubbs as my Dad goes on about him a lot, he seems to think they used to be friends. Two name I'd like to throw in there Rodney Jack and Matt Gregg, although the latter ended up a Exeter, but no before he made a healthy profit for the club. Jacks tenure was not long but it was very entertaining.

My support has spanned about 7 or 8 years so all of the above no doubts plus Olejnik, Graham, Woods, Downes, Branston, Taylor and for some odd reason I always liked Lee Canoville.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
