Our own Anthem
I very much enjoy reading this forum and I had no intentions of posting anything on it until now. The reasons being that I didn't think I could contribute anything to the well being of the very wonderful Torquay United FC by doing so. Not until now anyway.
Plainmoor is a fantastic little stadium and should be full of buzz but just lately it is struggling, I have read on here that we want an anthem so here you go.
If you don't like it don't fookin sing it, the atmosphere will be no worse, however if you do............
To the tune of The Killers excellent song 'Mr Brightside'
Intro:
(Bouncing up and down)
Der der der der
Der der der der
Der der der der
Der der der der
Verse:
I’m coming out of my pub
And I’ve done about five
Gotta walk past Plainmoor
And I gotta go
It started out with a piss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a piss
It was only a piss
Now I’m on the Popside
And my heart is alive
And my livers like lead
And my head is a shed
And we’re out on the pitch
And I’m off of my tits
And Gilbert Gulls off his tits cos
We’re attacking their wings NOW
Taking them apart NOW
Here we goooooooooo
I just can’t look its killing me
And taking control
Chorus:
Torquay, marching on to victory
Mr Brightside in defeat
We'll still be back every week
Yellow sand and blue sea
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager arms
Torquay United.
Clap clap clap
United
Clap clap clap
United
Etc etc etc

Well done for the effort and welcome.
i don't see this one catching on i'm afraid. Still you made the effort to write something which is more than i've done.

What about this. To the tune of Valley Floyd Road.
TUFC, TUFC,
The mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be found at,
TUFC
Many miles have I travelled,
Many games have I seen,
Following Torquay my favourite team,
Many hours have I dreamed,
of storming the league
Its TUFC.
My Only Desire,
TUFC,
the mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be found at,
TUFC.
From Hele Village to Wellswood,
And all over town,
Forever dreaming of TUFC,
Many hours have I spent on the Popular side,
Its TUFC,
My only desire.
TUFC,
the mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be found at,
TUFC.

Another good and quite unique one would be simply
Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrquaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
for as long as you can hold the sound/run out of breath, when some stop others are still going so it rings around the ground like a consistent fog horn.

Pretty generic but,
We are Torquay, We are Torquay, We are yellow, TUFC,
We Torquay, We are Yellow, We are Torquay, F**k City.

Thats's what the Grandstand is for. I also am adamant it would be a much better atmosphere give the away end to home fans.stefano wrote:Just clap politely at appropriate moments

In 51 seasons I have never set foot in the grandstand. In my Cowshed and Ministand days I was too young, then we had a period where it was better to be able to walk around and get close to people to keep warm, then the grandstand looked more fragile than me, and now it is too steep.WestLondonYellow wrote:

I always like to hear Robert miles children before the game. Always thought that was our adopted anthem. Great little song for the build up to a game.
Avicii's "you make me" makes me think of Torquay, just listen to the start of the song... I hear it as... we are one, one for sure. All united, we want some more woohoooo you make me! Can anyone else think of a line to go after that? Heres the original.

Sure i think the Robert Miles one is a kind of pre game/walkout anthem, i remember when it used to be "the final countdown' as played before our game against Bristol Rovers last season, brought back a lot of memories that one.
But we need something to sing during the game. Something that the whole ground want to join in with.

Not sure if it would work during the game but read the second half of my post and click on the last youtube link. That you could sing along too before the game and its short and sweet.

That one could definitely work as an upbeat one to get things rockin. In terms of an anthem thought, my preference would be for something with a bit more soul to it.united09 wrote:Not sure if it would work during the game but read the second half of my post and click on the last youtube link.
