A billionaire investor
Noticed on the board of directors thread that there was a chinese gentleman at the game on Saturday.
Now, my question is, lets say he's a billionaire and bought the club. Ok i want to see the club do well, i even have dreams of watching them in the premier league. However, we would lose a lot as well. We'd lose the closeness we have to the club. The feel of the place would change, for better or worse?
The owner might change our home colours to Red for instance. Just wonder what others thoughts are, because as you gain in some areas you lose in others.

I've made a number of impassioned posts, usually on the Banter Board, relating to the state of affairs you describe above. I have always argued fervently against TUFC being one of "those" clubs and I would continue to do so even if it actually happened. The reason we strive for promotion is because it represents the fact that we are the best among equals, not simply that our Chairman has a bigger willy bank balance than anyone else's.
I want us to go up on the basis that we earned it, not that we bought it, because really, achievement which comes about under such iniquitous circumstances is no real achievement at all.
Matt.

Sod that !!
If by some miracle someone like that was mad enough to come along I would welcome it as long as he didn't change our colours to Green !!
If I won mega bucks on the lottery I would love to have a go at securing the future of our club. Spend money in the right way but I am fed up of watching us struggle for the last forty years.
A few seasons where we didn't have to worry about non-league oblivion. Yeah I would go for that.

Dutchgull you big buffoon what kind of lunacy is that? Oops sorry, was just donning the forum bully hat for a second
I agree with Matt, if one of us fans came into some money a la Paul Bristow then that's one thing, but a newcomer with no feeling for what the club means to us long suffering fans (Badcott excluded), nah, not for me.

Absolutely say yes to that. Sod all that Bulls**t about him being not being a fan. Job's would be far more secure, we would rise through the leagues, Torbay would benefit. No one who is local is going to invest in us because they don't have the money. Thea Bristow isn't wanting to put any more money into the club, the other directors don't really care anymore, sadly. So if it takes a non-fan to do it for us then yeah.
Could be they want to sell rather than seek an investor.........

Think you have to ask yourself why you go and watch TQY and not a Premiere League club and therein probably lies your answer.
Remember Gretna ?
Not for me I'm afraid,, some rich knobs plaything? make it something it isn't then take it all away when he feels like it like some kind of magnified bateson. NTY

I agree, I can sympathise with board tho, there is no real return for your investment (financial that is) in a small club. I guess everyone eventually wants their investment returned if things are not going so well...........but with so many clubs struggling who would invest in a club unless money was no object and you could afford a plaything.....
They care more about themselves than the club or it's fans. It's all about ego's in the boardroom sadly.

I think you're generalising there. I've accused one or two of that plenty enough previously but one or two is far from all of them.

No, it's all of them. It's only one or two that are pretty close to being OK, but that is at best. They don't want the club anymore, most of them want out of it, Thea being one of them, only being there to protect the money she already put in.
