I think there is a lot of hysterical nonsense on this thread so far. It is an administration error by someone. It is embarrassing but it happens and when it does it is in the full glare of media and fans.

The likely punishment is likely to be a slap on the wrist and we should not lose any points as we did not gain any from the mistake.

Hopefully it leads to a tighening of procedure as imagine it had happened on Saturday's game, we had won and lost a tie v man Utd. That would have been shambolic.

I'm not normally one for newbies throwing phrases like the one in Gulls10's post above, but it doesn't stop him being right.
Just be cool everybody. We aren't in anywhere near as much trouble as we might think, of this I am pretty sure.

It's not like we had any reputation to besmirch, it seems we are even less popular with the popular media than Chelsea under Mourinho.

It might seem hysterical nonsense to you, but maybe I can alert you to some facts.

This same person has made two similar errors in the recent past. Firstly Jake Thomson, and also Michael Poke, so that makes it three errors and now we have to explain this to the Football League. Somehow I think we might be getting a kick up the arse rather than a slap on the wrist ;-)

In looking direct at the obvious, why is it frequently overlooked ?

Next question.

Why, when being aware an ineligible player was on the field of play, was he not immediately withdrawn ?

I wonder if this question will be asked by the FA.

It's too late, once the game starts it really doesn't matter.

Im guessing that as soon as he sets foot on the pitch, the regulation is broken (or even being on the team sheet handed to the ref). Withdrawing him would not be likely to cut any ice with the FL

If the action had been taken, the FA may/might see it as an act of contrition/mitigating factor in righting a wrong although it is after the fact.

Does that make sense ?
