Things you'd like to see in your lifetime

Post by GulldenBoy »

Some of the other topics have made me think about what i'd like to see happen in my lifetime, in regard to TUFC. Here you go:
  • 1. See TUFC reach the fifth round of the FA Cup
  • 2. See TUFC play in what is now the Championship
  • 3. TUFC to beat a top premier league team in the FA Cup
  • 4. See TUFC reach the fourth round of the league cup
  • 5. A completed Grandstand
  • 6. The Pop Side enlarged back to it's pre-development capacity
  • 7. Attendance at Plainmoor over 10,000
  • 8. See a TUFC youth team player go on to play for England
One thing that I have seen in my life time that i'd always hoped for: TUFC to win in open play in a Wembley Final (Tim S/Chris H....Legends!)

What would you like to see in your lifetime?

I have said on another thread that I specifically do NOT want TUFC to get to the Championship, and extrapolated from that will be that I do not want us to be involved with a £1,000,000 player. I shan't repeat it here, it's far too negative for this thread. I'd like only to see United finally get the FA Cup draw we deserve. Every year we beat sides who, by rights, should smash us into next week. Our reward? Another tie with a bunch of nobodies who ought to beat us and eventually do. The filth make R3 once in 150 years (or whatever) and get United, it propels them up two divisions. Bloody Burton do the same with a lesser result. If ever we needed proof that life ain't fair...

I completely agree that we are - or should be, for all the right reasons, essentially a L1 club, keeping it real etc, etc. However, this is a What if in your Wildest Dreams... list, and I therefore wouldn't deny myself one unforgettable season in the Championship followed by L1 consolidation :)

Yes Gulls, you are right, I fear I may have disregarded the point of the thread in my previous post, for that I apologise to the OP (I know how annoying it is).

So, what do I want in my fantasy world if not the real one? TUFC to sign a bunch of old, ex top flight players who I have admired for ages but who can't hack it anymore. David Trezeguet, David Beckham, Edgar Davids (this David thing isn't deliberate, I promise) Peter Schmichael, Roy Keane, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Henrik Larsson. Each absolutely brilliant players and I wish I had a chance to see them all live, especially in the intimate atmosphere of Plainmoor.

As I've lived more years than I have left to live, I hope I see number 5, this close season.

Number 7 I've seen on numerous occasions.

Number 8 : Lee Sharpe

Edit : got the numbers mixed up, oops.

I'd like to see a Torquay United player score the winning goal for England in the World Cup final.

...and I want the bouncers in pink.

I wonder if there are any 80s brats who get that reference.
