Torquay United v Fleetwood Town - 8/3/14
Is anyone without an ST going to this? If so I take my hat off to you. Fleetwood are in a wretched run of form having not won in 7 league games and also getting dumped out of the JPT BY Chesterfield. They do play Newport away on Tuesday night but normal service will be resumed for them at Plainmoor should they not come away from Rodney Parade with anything.
Only a madman would say we had a chance of winning this which we need to do. I'll be keeping an eye on other results more than ours because we can't afford any of them to pick up points.
It's all if's but IF we can win this then there is a slight glimmer should other results go our way. A draw isn't good enough. We should be going all out attack which quite clearly we are incapable of so for me it's a screwturning performance from the Cod Army.
3-0 comprehensive victory for our visitors.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Oh and did I mention we have the worst home record in the league and they have joint best away wins with Chesterfield on 8?
Enjoy the game peoples!

I'd like us line up a solid, well-organised 4-5-1 with Showunmi up front. Labadie and Mansell back I hope and Stevens dropped. Fleetwood are desperate to get some wins as their form is poor, and their chairman seems prepared to sack managers without much requirement for an excuse. We need to use this to work in our favour.

No Luce, fortunately I didn't have a bet today. :na:
I'm just putting my view across on the Fleetwood game and what is likely to happen based on all known form and evidence that's all. Unfortunately for us it equates to a crushing defeat.
I'll put Fleetwood in my accumulator for Saturday as I know that will help to get us a result.

This season has similarities to the 'Crewe season'. The team weren't awful but didn't take chances, made too many silly errors and couldn't hold a lead. That season a home win v Rochdale gave hope. I remember going to Orient & Peterborough right at the end of the season and throwing away leads to late goals in both - I think we may have one won & drawn one. Orient was the penultimate game. Crewe was the opposite, coming back to draw with result elsewhere going in our favour. (I was one of the 4,000 or so who was really there!). Big difference then was only one team relegated.stefano wrote:I think we will win 3-0 to turn our fortunes around and just like the Crewe game all those years ago 15000 people will be claiming "I was there"!

I was there, I had just turned 12 and it was my first ever match. I remember us having to get a home end matchday voucher from a poxy tiny office near the away end. Wasnt there a ban on away fans but still a load of Crewe's lot got in. I remember after the game, fans invading the pitch, most of the team and the manager being carried off the pitch and many of us went behind the old mini stand where the dressing rooms were. The players came out drinking cans of lager and having a chat with a few supporters.Really emotional scenes at the end of the game, tears of joy, many rousing choruses of "You Are My Torquay". To be honest I havent seen any scenes at Plainmoor as amazing as that since, but thats one of the reasons we keep going is hoping to have days like that. Would love to see something like that day again come the end of this season. We live in hope.stefano wrote:I think we will win 3-0 to turn our fortunes around and just like the Crewe game all those years ago 15000 people will be claiming "I was there"!
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

Just going to honest here. I don't yet whether I'm going to this game or not, went last Saturday to watch my lad play a staring role between the sticks for Kingsteignton in their 5.1 win against Foxhole, this coming Saturday their home to the league leaders, and a straight choice, do I go to Torquay to watch something that makes feel utterly miserable and wrecks my weekend, or go a long and give morale support to my 16 year old son, some thing that makes me feel proud and very happy, not a hard choice at the moment.
Could be down to weather though, if my lads game is off, then we'll both be at Torquay, and don't worry, am a season ticket holder so all paid for the season.

I think we have a chance this Saturday , they (Fleetwood) will be desperate to win , anything less than 3 points will seem a disaster . If we can keep it tight for the first half go in 0-0, we can hit them on the break and nick 2 goals .
but if we read it like them and go at them early we will get stuffed ,, it is all down to management skills now .
we will see if ours has any management skill , sadly I think not at the moment . he and the team look like rabbits in the headlights..
