Exeter and Portsmouth.

Still Exeter and Portsmouth.

Portsmouth have a seriously difficult run in. Promotion chasing teams in the next few then the last four are Bristol Rovers (H), Northampton (A), Bury (A), Argyle (H). Three against relegation threatened teams and if Portsmouth are still down there, which I expect them to be, I can see them bottling it. Finally the Pilgrims clinching their play off place on the last day.

Exeter may be ok if they were allowed to play all their games away. They're not, so it doesn't matter who they play at home they will lose, and the few points they pick up away will not be enough.

I hope I do not have to revise this come Saturday evening after Newport visit Plainmoor, but we haven't won two in a row since Pontius was a trainee pilot. Exeter and Northampton have tough games over the coming week, as do we of course, so it's vital for us to win our next two games, but even four points from a possible six would see us putting an unbeaten run together!

Northampton could comfortably win both those games. Morecambe are horrifically poor. They were torn to pieces by Geoff Harrop's Torquay (forget the result, they play like that every week, they won't shin one into the top corner with anything like identical frequency). In a division full of embarrassingly poor teams, Morecambe manage to stand out. According to the AC board, they were appalling last night, so that game could go down as the worst in history.
AFCW are extremely unpredictable. Anything could happen.
Exeter in the Devon Derby is a toss up. Who knows what'll occur. Hopefully a shit load of sendings off.
Exeter have the worst home record and Fleetwood the best away record. Cue a first home win 6 months for City.
As for our games, well York are an extremely strange side. They can win 3-0 one week and lose 3-0 the next. They looked very ordinary against us until we went down to 10 men.
Newport are another terrible side. They good well lucky against us at their place, with our having both centre backs out at late notice, as well as scoring with their only two chances. Their fans were apologetic as we walked back to the car, physically embarrassed at having taken all three points. Their strikeforce looks fine on paper, but Rene Howe is genuinely shit. He's got three goals all year. One was actually an OG and one he knew nothing about because it hit his half-acre arse and flew in while he was looking the other way. So he's hardly a threat. Zebro[w]ski will need watching, but at their place, he was totally nullified by Manse at right back. My Nan could skin Manse at RB, how bad must Zedders be?

**** knows. All I know is that, if we play like we did last night, we are more than capable of beating both sides mentioned. All we can do is keep winning our games and, if we go down with 63 points, then congratulations to everyone else.

Agreed. And this is the point though, isn't it: forecasting the results of most games in this division this season is a mug's game. As you say, all we can do is keep winning our own games. It's not over yet, at least not until we beat Excretia..

That season was the last time Newport were in the league (87/88), and it was this game against us that relegated them. News had emerged the previous day that over the weekend Lee Sharpe had signed a contract to play for Manchester United the following season.

That night vs Newport, Sharpey was on fire, absolutely bursting with confidence.

That was my first full season watching The Gulls (I was 12), along with the 2004 mob they were my favorite Torquay side. How on earth that team managed to conspire to not get promoted is beyond me.

wheres the BBC predictor machine that super loved so much these last few seasons??!! i've had a look thru the remaining games and our run in is much easier than exeters, just hoping that our success last night and yeomans return will bring us the much needed boost to spur us on the salvation!

Yep, they used to play with the pitch like that a lot back then from what I remember. Proper footballers, real men and no health and safety gone mad.

Not like now, with all the namby pamby, precious, pampered prima donnas who dont like to get their shorts dirty.

Half a bucket of water on the pitch nowadays and the game gets called off. :}
