Agree with this. I thought Zebroski finished well, unfortunately. The FLS has confirmed my opinion. Very slight defleciton if any.Swanny wrote:I am not convinced Zebrowski's winner was deflected. I had a clear view of it sat just behind in the Family stand. My view is that he dinked it beautifully over Rice - it was a quality finish and Zebs knew exactly what he was doing.
As for the sending off incident, I've had a good look on the T.V. highlights. It would appear Goodwin did lead with his elbow and caught the Newport player. I doubt the Newport player faked it as he rolled on the floor, he probably was genuinely caught by Goodwin's elbow. I doubt it was intentional on Goodwin's part, just a bit naive. It will probably be something he will learn from experience. And that leads me to my point. We have been too reliant all season on inexperienced loanees who are trying to learn their trade and they will at times make naive mistakes. I am not convinced this policy has really helped us at all.

No - I don't agree with this. There was a deflection off Tonge's half-hearted challenge. If Zebroksi had been tackled by Mansell, O'Connor or even Nicholson, the ball would not have got any further than Zebs toe (probably gone out for a corner). I don't know why Tonge was in the left back position in the first place - where was Nicholson? The goal was Tonge's fault and not Zebroski's brilliance although I thought he looked sharp and more of a threat than any of our forwards.bobby93 wrote: Agree with this. Ahahahahahahahahah, as if Zebroski has become Messi over night. Rice goes to where the shot was originally going. The ball was spinning like a Dyson cyclone as it looped, quite unnaturally, up into the air. This was not a scooped finish from a £100,000,000 superstar, it was a league two standard 'smash it towards the goal and hope' which took the most awful deflection.
Same thing happened away at Gillingham last year. Shot for the far post which Rice had easily covered until it took a nick off Nico's boot and flew in at the near post.
Just another example of the **** abysmal luck we seem to get. I can't remember the last time one of those went for us. Perhaps Swindon at home (three years ago?)
Matt.

I was level with Zebroski when he finished and it was a well-taken goal. Not the fluke you are trying to portray. As someone else has suggested, once again, like the two at home v Northampton, the left side of our defence was at sea.ferrarilover wrote:Ahahahahahahahahah, as if Zebroski has become Messi over night. We are not bottom because of abysmal luck. The only thing that is abysmal is the football team.

I am as frustrated as anyone else by Billy Bodin but he appeared to be be the only player with a semblance of skill to unlock the Newport defence.
In fact two or three times he got behind their defence but the crosses were not taken up by our ineffectual strikers.

Hold the presses, Hector embroiled in pointless argument where he's clearly and provably incorrect, but yacks on regardless.

Well what can you say, another pitiful performance from a side that is doomed to fall out of the League by Easter. Newport were poor but had the one thing we have lacked ALL season, a bloke capable of finishing. We all knew Zeb would score, he always does against us.
Forget the poor refereeing, we should be used to this by now, it's no excuse really, we just aren't good enough, loads of huff and puff but no end product.
Reflecting on Saturdays game, a few statements come to mind:
Elliot Benyon - his role is what ?? On Saturday did he have an effort on or off target ?? He has this great ability to fall over all the time, usually cos he is on the wrong side of the defender !!! I suggest he be given a banjo and shown a barn door and lets see if he can hit that !!!!
Dale Tonge - shocking performance seems more of a pub team player. Brings nothing to the team
Krystian Pearce - I feel very sorry for him as he is the one class player in the team, reckon he'll be speaking to his agent soon !!!
Billy Bodin - when will he actually tackle some-one. Could be a class act, but is just infuriating
I do fear for the club, with failing attendances, the possibility of the majority of the squad still being there next season, could this be a downward spiral ??? If only some-one would actually come out and say "Sorry" to the fan base, whether it be a board member, the management or a player, that may offer some comfort, instead we, that is the club as a whole, seems to trundle along thinking it has a god given right to remain in the Football League .........................
Final thought, poor Dean Edwards, having to "sell" this ramshackle operation, his role must be akin to that of the Entertainments officer on the Titanic, demanding the band play on !!!!
Comments please .........

Catastrophic bollocks. Nuclear bullshit. Papal level rubbish. If you want a club who thinks it's "too big to fail" have a look at Northampton.
Where do you people get these **** stupid ideas?

I think you are wrong to suggest our club think's it has a god given right to remain in the league, I think it's more of a case the club is being run by people ignorant of wants needed to succeed/stay in the F/L, other than that agree..Bobbytanz wrote:Well what can you say, another pitiful performance from a side that is doomed to fall out of the League by Easter. Not sure about the Dyson cyclone - very impressed you are so knowledgeable about the workings of a vacuum cleaner, Matt - but that is precisely what happened, however it looked on FLS from a camera half a mile away. It was a bizarre goal which seemed to happen in slow motion. I don't think Zebroski had any intention of going for goal - I'm sure his aim was to get a corner off Tonge. The ball spun off Tonge and looped over Rice into the net. In a previous posting, I wondered if Rice could have been bettered positioned but on reflection, I don't think he could have done anything. The blame lies squarely with Tonge. If he'd gone in with a no nonsense tackle as any decent full back should, the ball would have probably gone out for a corner as Zebs intended. Instead, his challenge was half-hearted and the rest is history.ferrarilover wrote:Ahahahahahahahahah, as if Zebroski has become Messi over night. Rice goes to where the shot was originally going. Hector says he was level with the action but I can only assume he was in Bristow's Bench - i.e. on the other side of the pitch. I was about five metres away and can confirm, on this occasion at least, Matt is right !! It doesn't change the fact that we had about 80 minutes to put things right against a makeshift defence that had no problem in containing our strike 'force' (I use the word very loosely).
Where the squad on Saturday, has the potenial to play next season (IMO)

I think you are being a bit generous with a few of them.
Just because quite a few of those would be suitable for the conference doesnt mean if we go down they should still be still here playing for us.
I wouldnt be sad to see the back of any of the squad, with the exception of Pearce, Rice or Poke as 2nd choice keeper and more of a chance given to Cameron and Chappell. Hopefully the bulk of the squad will leave and we can start again. The worst part is there are a few under contract who need to go, hopefully they dont want to stay here and there is another club somewhere as far away as possible who are mug enough to take these pretenders off our hands.
And I do include the so called club legends in this.

For someone who is allegedly a lawyer, you are clueless when it comes to proof. Simply trying to shout louder, or when that fails resort to insults, will not get you very far in your career.ferrarilover wrote:Hold the presses, Hector embroiled in pointless argument where he's clearly and provably incorrect, but yacks on regardless.

Billy started well but when we had to dig in, after we lost Goodwin this game came to soon for him after his injury. We are lacking a good strike force if we had Howe or Reid of Plymouth or both, :kee in our line up we would have more points on the board.Phipsy wrote:I am as frustrated as anyone else by Billy Bodin but he appeared to be be the only player with a semblance of skill to unlock the Newport defence.
