Ashley Yeoman
Ashley Yeoman
As I don't get to as many games as I want to can anyone explain why Yeoman doesn't get a chance. As none of our loan players appear to work. He had goals in him or am I missing something ?

Has anyone ever bought you a really expensive gift that they thought you'd love, but that you actually hate?

Unfortunately, Ashley has always been a player who has never quite been good enough. Imagine Macheda at Man Utd, he's done a couple good things, has scored a couple important goals and looks like a player with bags of potential.
The other 10 games he plays, he adds nothing. Runs around a bit, gets knocked over by a centre back or two, gets back up without winning a penalty and carries on almost looking like he could get you a goal, but just wont.

He certainly isnt a league 2 striker, don't think he's good enough for the conference

I think it says all when in the last few years Ling, Taylor, Knill and now CH have not really played him must say it all. Saying that he may have got more of a chance is harrop had a few more games as he wanted to recall him.
Well then it begs the question , why have TUFC been paying this lads wages since he was 16, how old is he now, 22, great 6 years of picking up a wage for what. Nothing, can I have his job.

Its very common in clubs to have their youngsters they believe or hope they will make it. You give a young lad a contract at 16 and you hope they may grow to their potential and make the cut. Its quite rare for 16 year old to be ready for the first team.forevertufc wrote:Well then it begs the question , why have TUFC been paying this lads wages since he was 16, how old is he now, 22, great 6 years of picking up a wage for what. The clubs I worked at always gave the kids until around 22 to prove their ability with loans out ect. Well the players they really believed in.
his time is up in my eyes, not made an impression on loan or made it really in the first team. Yes he maybe regarded as an amazing finisher in training but even I scored goals in training when I was coaching at Cardiff and at the time dave jones didnt change my contract from coach to star striker because I managed to score goals when I was allowed to join in.
if I was the club let him go, keep a close eye in him and if he is a late bloomer then brilliant get him back. If not then no big deal.
Hi Brett, yep I know, and respect your back ground in professional youth development football. Thing is your talking about clubs like Cardiff who are very well financed, Premiership/Championship clubs by and large either have a cat 1 or cat 2 youth set up (expect Yeovil who don't have a youth set up) clubs that have development/performance/satellite centres backing up their academies, and have soccer skills schools link ups and college football links ups right the way across the U.K, Europe and some worldwide, your talking about clubs that have reserve teams, "A" teams and development squads , who have the luxury to keep 16-22 year olds in the hope they will turn into that late developing golden egg.
We're TUFC we only have a certain amount of money, I look at Yeoman, Craig, Sullivan, Hutchings and to an extent Thompson, ok these players probably aren't on big money, but no of them were deemed good enough/developed enough by successive managers to play in League 2.
And that's where part of the problem lie's, we don't have the money, time or luxury as bigger clubs do to keep this number of players in the squad that are neither fit for purpose in league 2 or ready for league 2. Not going to by a hypocrite, have said on a number of occasions don't like the loan market, however come to realise for our club, I was wrong to have that view point.
With the lack of finance our club works off, we should have cut a lot of those players listed above and others, run with a much smaller squad with the emphasis on quality, and had money left over for good loans, and not screwed around with these freebie loan players who were by a large no better than what we already had.

I find it hilarious that people can describe Yeoman as not good enough for the conference. Please tell me, are any of our 'strikers' good enough for the conference? Hawley? Stockley? The answer is no. Hawley plays week in week out more or less (well not anymore) and when Stockley comes on, he looks as interested as a castrated dog surrounded by bitches. We wont have any choice but play Yeoman now, Hawley is out and Stockley is as well for three games, but I'd play Yeoman anyway. Someone who has been at the club since he was 16(?) and might actually care playing first team football.

You can't really say Stockley isn't good enough for the conference when he hit 10 goals last season for Woking!dannyrvtufc4life wrote:I find it hilarious that people can describe Yeoman as not good enough for the conference. I may be wrong, but I do believe that Yeoman (and Nathan Craig) was playing completely out of position (Yeoman on the wing) so its unfair to say that he wasn't good enough for Dorchester. As far as I am concerned, Yeoman has scored one goal this year (doesn't sound good) but that matches Stockley and just one below Hawley with a staggering two goals and they have played many more games than Ashley in a yellow shirt.

But his attitude is atrocious here. He looks uninterested, doesn't go for the ball and has scored 1 goal. I'm sorry, but it will be exactly the same if Stockley played for Torquay United in the conference.

New managers coming in usually dump young players unless they sign them. They go for proven players that have a good record behind them as their job is at stake. Hargreaves has been careful he's gone for loan players he's seen play. Yeoman Craig and Thompson have all suffered with the manager changing Craig was in favour and is good enough but Ling signed him and was developing him. Hargreaves and Knill have not spent the time as they did not see him play and has no confidense in him. Yeoman and Halpin someone thought it a publicity stunt for the club in an earlier post. Managers look after themselves more than anything else the've got to as it's their job and don't take to many chances. Good managers do and Hargreaves took a chance on Saturday with his selection and although we did not win, the first half performance would have given him hope, if it had been February, but obviously it's to late now. I think an experience manager would have tried this after a couple of games. I think you will find somewhere on some of the posts supporters have been on about the formation he played I know I did.dannyrvtufc4life wrote:I find it hilarious that people can describe Yeoman as not good enough for the conference. I know someone will come back and say we did not score we all know that but the passing was good and the performance was good up till 60mins you've got to take the positives out of the game. I'm not saying anymore as I've put it on another post, Hargreaves needs an older wiser person along side him and he would not have made the substitutions he made on Saturday, but he is learning the hard way.
