Martin Ling must have been going through that here at TQ1 and when on the touchline, not giving a monkeys about the game because he wasn't the person he actually is. I'm glad to hear that he is doing well.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
The lead singer of my all time favourite group, Belfast Punks, Stiff Little Fingers, has just written a song about his problems with servere depression over the last 8 years, with the most emotional lyrics you can imagine, which really captures what depression is like for those that suffer.
I admire the likes of Martin Ling, Jake Burns and Neil Lennon who can publically talk about these issues

Being a sufferer of 'stuff' for many years I'd just like to encourage anyone who thinks it is embarrassing to talk about stuff to just **** everyone else and start talking. From my experiences, most people I know don't think I'm weird or anything possibly just a bit eccentric and needing enlightenment in seeing the positives rather than default negatives. It is actually a fact that the human brain constantly pumps in negative thought processes subconsciously and you have to actually consciously counteract this with a positive outlook. Yes in fact my friends often think that many people who DON'T actually show any mental health hang ups are the oddest. It's normal, we all have biological quirks and they make us what we are. Accept them because trying to keep things hidden only stores up problems. If something goes wrong with your heart it's normal but if something goes wrong with your head then suddenly you're a **** weirdo. It is people who think this way who have the real mental health issues but their brain will never register a problem.
Because they don't have one.

If anyone deserved a second chance then I guess it would be Martin but I just can't see how defending for 90 minutes and hoping to nick one against teams like Dartford would be the shot in the arm this club needs with all due respect to Martin of course. I certainly think he could stop the rot and get us competitive again but unless his footballing philosophy has changed to a more adventurous one then no thanks. I can't watch that stuff again.
Knill took the standard of football to a new level and CH further still so if Ling did come back his style of play might actually make us look like Barcelona compared to where we're at now and we might not complain as much.
It would be a backward step though because if things went wrong he has nowhere to go with the fans and many will find it difficult to validly criticise Martin for fear of being labelled insensitive and ignorant to his condition.
It's a can of worms that shouldn't be opened.

I am not a particular fan of that group but have just listened to the song on Youtube. It's very very good. Just echoes many of the sentiments of depression. Very brave to sing about it too.
They don't believe there is anything to apologise for. What I a may be able to predict though is if the club goes tits up then most of them won't be seen for the hills. Thea will have lost out and those around her will go and leach onto something else, a bit like Knill at Northampton leaving the mess behind. Ok so Knill was sacked but he wouldn't do the decent thing and admit he was not up to the task. Same thing in my book. They can't lose.

I don't think there was anything wrong with his footballing philofosy. We had a very good season with him the year before and I didn't hear anyone complaining then. I think that his depression made ths difference. When your depressed. You think differently. It gets very negative and it has a habit of magnifying once it start. Like a snowball rolling down the hill. Very difficult to stop once it gets going.
When your made well again you can think clearly and more positively. But not until then.
I meant in the context that when he re-applied for the vacant managers post upon the dismissal of AK, yes he wanted to come back and yes he applied but he heard nothing but I think we all know that CH was virtually confirmed from the out set..........
