Can't argue with that.

We need someone at the club who just does not give a shit about anybody but themselves and who will take risks. These people achieve. I wouldn't give these people the time of day personally but they will do what they say they are going to do and not look for excuses or buy fans pints to say sorry. They will just get the players to annihilate the opposition the week after and not pick the same team, formation and tactics and say "don't worry about it lads". They will try and get the job done as effectively and as quickly as possible.

God can we have Buckle back please?!!

I also find it bizarre how in an economic recession we basically have to beg OTHERS to come and manage us instead of aiming high and then accepting middle. It's like if a Bactrian Camel escaped from Paignton Zoo and forwarded a speculative job application to be Torquay boss then he'd get a friggin' interview!! It's insane!

We are Torquay United, we have a vitally important job vacancy and we should be pinpointing relatively high calibre appointments and making them see that managing us is an amazing opportunity. How the hell do we market the club to prospective managers anyway? Give them a copy of the Torbay Tourist Board mag and show them how they could maybe visit the model village on their day off or take the collie for a run across Dawlish beach of an evening? Talk about USP's!

We will never escape the Fawlty Towers that is TUFC (Thea aside) unless we get in people across the board who want to achieve and that has to start with making people who come to the club see it as a huge opportunity rather than a 2 year stop gap where they can take the piss then **** off.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Just incase you hadn't heard, according to radio devon Paul Buckle was there assisting the commentary team. Now what would an American boy like him be doing at a virtually relegated club like ours?

Yeah most likely, however, if this was the case surely he'd be seeing his kids rather than going on the radio? It just seems a bit odd to me, going back to a club you've managed while you're 'on holiday'.

I'm sure there is nothing in the pipeline for a possible return here, much as I think it would be an improvement on what we have (unless he is happy to be paid in pork scratchings), however listening to his commentary and his interview during the week - I got the impression he would jump at the chance to return to the UK...

Listened to the game today, Dave thomas made a great point about the original Northampton home game being called off due to a water logged pitch - at a time when northampton were bottom and we'd won 2 in on the bounce! with a couple more P-P we lost the new manager momentum and never got it back, couple it with

-Poor permanent signings by Knill
-Not sacking Knill early enough
-A heavy reliance from loan players - most have been useless
-some bad luck/ poor ref decisions
-Too many individual errors
-Certain players giving up/ not caring
-CH not getting a settled side for a while

and it's welcome to the conference
