i think its all about a bit more accountability,
this thread clearly demonstrates that the 'smoke and mirrors' surrounding the board creates feelings that can't be backed up by facts - because people don't know the facts.
The board don't have to be open about every decision and £ they spend but i'd like to know what each member brings to the table and justify and account for some of the things they do.
how about a fans forum or a meet the directors event?
something that bridges the clear 'gap' between the fans in the stands and in the boardroom

I've seen this, a lot. All I can ask is if you've done detailed price elasticity modelling on the ticket prices. Do you have quant analysis in to the loyalty of consumers buying season tickets against those that'll return through the gates at plainmoor if we start winning.
My assumption is those in charge have done both of those things. I suspect (and history shows) altering ticket prices won't help. With continued increased on the cost of overheads, the rapid inflatory cost of footballers wages, holding the cost of the season ticket is the best the club could ever afford to do.
Lowering ticket prices won't suddenly see an uptake. Poor response to early bird tickets previously highlights this. You're just giving away gross margin, with nothing in return.
There's deeper factors other than price that will be behind our low attendances next year.
Silvergull, no offence again but.........this is another example of the one dimensional thinking of people who just don't get it. If I have to explain then it just confirms my point.
GET PHILLIPS OUT NOW!!!
Haha. I try to avoid this place now because there is so much bollocks spouted on here - but I think this takes it to a new level. And is it a shock who's written it? No.AustrianAndyGull wrote:
I'm going to spend my weekends with the family, I might go and watch the odd game at Sheffield FC and Chesterfield, go and watch cricket and save myself some mileage on the car as well as diesel and childcare too. In fact it's a weight lifted if I'm honest. I can't believe I've put my family through what I have these past 5 years just so I can support a club whose board treat us with contempt.
Ditch Plainmoor until the club do the decent thing and if we don't have a club left then we hold our heads high knowing we did the right thing and those of us who wish to be involved in a new club can start afresh like Darlo or Scarborough. That's the way we're heading anyway with this lot at the helm.
I've had enough of being ripped off and feeling like I am a revenue stream and not a fan with feelings and expectations. It's disgusting.
No more shirts, scarves, clothing or accessories for me and the little one. No more life disruption to not only see us lose but to also get ripped off for the privilege and at home games 'enjoy' one of the worst all round matchday experiences I think I've seen. (Someone gets paid for creating these would you believe?)
No more games home and away and no more being taken for a total mug. I'm out.
Make sure to let us know what team you randomly pick off the FL list and start supporting next season!

well, I for one will miss our friend from oop North. I may not agree with all his posts, but he has ALWAYS livened up this forum & I think that he will be sorely missed. Some of his 'oh-so-long' posts have been extremely funny & well-researched. He's a nice bloke to stand on an away terrace with, & I'm sad that he's not 'one for the distance'. As I've said elsewhere...when has supporting TUFC ever been an easy option ? TTID

Just clocked the 5 year part, which explains a lot.Nick wrote: Haha. I try to avoid this place now because there is so much bollocks spouted on here - but I think this takes it to a new level. And is it a shock who's written it? No.

I would have loved to have seen the post generated if around for the darkest Batson days. When we has a stadium manager... Having a board twice sack mansgers, build a training ground and invest in playing & coaching staff, is worlds away from what most of us are used to.

I'm sure he is a nice bloke taxigal, but he's now put at least two "oh so long posts" up saying he's up finished going away promised my family selling my shirt, selling it cheaper now and I'll even pay the postage,,,jeeps give it a rest! I don't care! He's after a reaction so I gave him one. If he's had enough then fair enough but please don't drag it out like a dying swan.

guess we're all expressing our reactions to relegation in different ways, eh Dave_Pougher ? Somes angry, somes ranting, somes crying, somes hiding away in corners. Just give us all a week or so (& a look at the retained list) for all the dust to settle, & in the meantime, let's try to keep civil to each other cos essentially we're all 'sposed to have a common identity !

Can't disagree with that gal,
Just feel we need to be more proactive and don't have time for this I'm off mentality when the going gets tough. I will take Baker and Phillips to task, calmly and politely letting them know they are accountable as I did with Bateson, twice and Roberts both to my cost initially. But your right if I were to do that now it would be to emotive. Time to take a time out until the retain list appears at least.
I rarely post on here and I have avoided this forum for 24 hours because I knew it would be full of dreadful posts, but the above just about takes the biscuit.AustrianAndyGull wrote:Who f**king cares anyway? They don't.
Andy, I don't know you but you come across as hysterical, volatile and bi-polar in your posts. Do you really think that the people who run the club, put money into the club, work 40 hours plus per week for free do not care if we go down? Really? Is it only you that gets wound up by it? My god, we are all pretty pissed off right now but imagine if you were one of the ones responsible? You would be gutted.
Through work I know 3 directors and each of them have said that they lose sleep, worry, stress about it and feel absolutely powerless to stop it. Turning a club around is not simple. There are many clubs in long term decline who have changed manager. We don't have the money to do what Northampton did and increase the wage budget by about £5k pw to get out of it. Football is not an exact science and while everyone knows mistakes were made, to say they do not care because they don't come on here and have a meltdown is quite frankly insulting.
I think you are probably correct. It just doesn't compute to me, that the board are reckless and lacking in care.NA Gull wrote: I rarely post on here and I have avoided this forum for 24 hours because I knew it would be full of dreadful posts, but the above just about takes the biscuit.

I think they made massive mistakes with the manager's post, namely, Alan Knill but other than that, despite this thread, I still do not know what it is that they have done so badly.
Sure, they could be better at PR (but then TUFC have always been awful at that) but essentially, the board is a group of blokes (and a lady) who 8 years ago were stood on the terraces probably venting their spleens at Bateson and got the chance to take over the club - and on the whole, did a decent job until they appointed Alan Knill.
Appointing Knill was a massive mistake. They know it, we know and Knill knows it. But it is easy for fans to say Sack Him when they don't have to write the cheque for £50k to pay him off.
It is a lot easier to write the cheque for £50k than not get one for £850k due to be relegated.NA Gull wrote:Appointing Knill was a massive mistake. They know it, we know and Knill knows it. But it is easy for fans to say Sack Him when they don't have to write the cheque for £50k to pay him off.
