Argyle Released list..

Post by sam_ »

Argyle have released Luke Young, Jake Cole, Neil Trottman, and Maxime Blanchard. I imagine they will all get league clubs, but I would happily take any of these players in the conference. Young is better than a few of our current CMs. Trottman will stay in the league, but I'd still take Blanchard if Pearce leaves.

Thoughts?

Jake Cole please.

I'm not sure we want to be raiding their bin though. They are a relegation side for sure without Reid, so picking up their scraps probably won't serve us too well.

The players released I think are good individuals. But agree, Cole would be very welcome here I hope.

Jake Cole? Although arguably better than either Rice or Poke do we really need a keeper? I would be happy to keep the current two, far more important to get a creative attacking midfielder and a striker worthy of the name.

Poke's wages are beyond what we will now pay for a keeper who sneezes and is out for a month.

Can't imagine he'll want to be second best, he could get into a lot of other teams

Luke Young was supposedly quite handy, I thought? He'd do. As much as I rate Jake Cole, if we can get Ricey to stick around I don't see another keeper as a priority for next season. Blanchard would be a half decent shout if he wants to stay local and we lose both Downes and Pearce.

If be more interested in Exeters released list, as they have a number of locally based players who have been on the fringes. Ideal for a low budget conference rebuild.

And Bournemouth too - a number of their young squad members spent time on loan in the Conf South last season. Chance to step up under the tutelage of CH?

I would love Jake Cole here, he always impressed me when we played Barnet. Every successful team needs a reliable keeper and he would be a top notch player for us. You'd think he would want to stay in the league, and could get another league team easily enough though, so the chances would probably be slim.

Personally I wouldn't feel confident having Martin Rice as the senior goalkeeper in the squad.

I thought Blanchard was a bit of a donkey with a reputation for what bad 80s rap* would call 'da bad beeavya!'?

Matt.

Yes, I know it's a tautology, there was no good 80s rap.

Agree with Young, I always saw him as a decent player, although having said that, the amount of Argyle and City fans that rave about Danny Stevens is stupid. Exeter could be a good loan team, with the youngsters they bring through, getting some on a loan could be handy. As for Bournemouth, CH has already brought in Cargill and Stockley so I think you're right there. Although I do hope Stockley doesn't come back

Several there who can do a job.

Blanchard is a good centre back but for some bizarre reason has been used as a right back all season.

Cole is a tad flappy for crosses but you'll struggle to find a better shot stopper below the championship. He's just that good. But unfortunately the other parts of his game let him down.. I imagine he'll sign for another League 2 side though.

The real surprise here is Luke Young. 21 years old and over 100 appearances. I'm yet to come across Argyle fans who wanted him to go, it's a huge shock to everyone. Perhaps he hasn't progressed as hoped but he's easily one of the best passers around, some excellent dead ball abilities too.

Vassell never progressed but did very well in tier 7 this season for Weymouth. Trotman is a donkey but no better than Downes so can't see why you would want him.

Boco.. Scored 10 goals for Accrington last season.. Is bollocks. Waste of a contract.

Good luck for next season, definitely some beys who would do well for you.

Parsons also released. Good young left back, had him since January. Imagine that will work out as a big mistake for us.
