Ryan Bowman - SIGNED
According to the Skrill banter page on Facebook, We are signing Ryan Bowman who was previously at York City. A York fan has posted this claiming he has spoken to Bowman. Anyone else seen this?
It's a bit too random to not have some substance to it I think.

If true, it could be a good signing. 22yr old 6ft 2in. last 2 seasons for Hereford and York he's scored 23 goals in 76 appearances.
Seems he's yet another Herbal Life distributor so should fit in well!
Would be happy enough with that. He is a good age, good height and has played at Conference Premier level before and scored plenty of goals for Hereford in the 2012-13 season which earned him a move into the League with York, who ended up paying a tribunal set £20k for him 12 months ago.
It may not have worked out for him in League 2 with York ... although with 8 goals he still managed a few more than any of our lot!!! But, he still has age on his side and hopefully he can rediscover the sort of form that saw him fire 17 goals for Hereford the last time he played at this level.

Seems a bit odd. He signed for York on a two year contract in May 2013, and they had to pay Hereford £20000 for him. I hope it is true, but could easily be just an unfounded rumour.
When asked on Facebook about signing for us, he said "not confirmed yet". This could be a goer. Contrary to all the doom and gloom, if this came off, it would start to look like Ch is assembling a pretty competitive conference squad.

A 20 goal season striker is essential if we are to challenge for the play-offs. Bowman and a left back (hopefully Cargill) and we would have a decent side on paper, with more to come, especially if we can ship out a few of the unwanted ones.

Chris, what would be the make-up of this decent side? I'm interested to see if there are any more players I've forgotten!?

Rice, Cargill, Downes, Pearce, Cooper, Harding, Young, Cameron, Briscoe, Bowman.
Chapell, Yeoman and (when on form) Benyon are also decent squad options. It's by no means a finished article, but there's probably 8 of a good first 11 at the Club, and we haven't done too much business yet.

Useful addition if it comes off I think. Being greedy I would like him and Cureton but probably unlikely.
Progress hopefully but still missing I think is a right back, a left back and a ball winner in midfield (some say Cooper could do this but I would be interested what this is based on!).
We should also not forget we only have one senior pro at centre half who Hargreaves rates and he does not want to stay!
Interesting to see who shows Friday but if we snare Bowman then a decent nucleus seems to be starting to form but still many questions to answer!

Would prefer to see us start with eleven! I'd probably stick Cooper in a 3 man centre midfield in that line up with Briscoe and Cameron interchanging either side of Bowman - and from what I've heard, this rumour is true. Angus MacDonald in for Downes and a decent right back and that wouldn't be a bad eleven at all.Gulliball wrote:Rice, Cargill, Downes, Pearce, Cooper, Harding, Young, Cameron, Briscoe, Bowman.
Bowman would represent another good signing. Young, Briscoe and Bowman. All three outfield signings have been good signings. Starting eleven material, every one of them.
Happy to hear that Seabright is seen as someone challenging for the number 1 spot, too. Not a hundred percent convinced Ricey inspires confidence in those in front of him, but maybe a start to the season as the Number 1 - not something he's ever been before - might see his confidence and that of those in front of him reach more acceptable levels.
Is Cooper staying, has he signed a contract?

I clearly am a pessimist, because all I can see in that side is masses of uncertainty! Cargill, McDonald and Bowman remain fantasy at this point. Pearce is still more likely to leave than stay (in my opinion). Downes is wanted rid of, and we've not seen Cooper kick a ball in anger yet, so who knows how effective he'll be. I respect anyone that is remaining positive in the current circumstances, but at least reflect the reality of the situation.

I've just noticed on the BBC article regarding us entering talks with Cureton, it says: "Meanwhile, Hargreaves is hopeful of completing the signing of another forward on Thursday..." could this be Bowman?
